Many are going to diss this post but it needs to be discussed.
Are you guys really confident we are going to nail this draft and get back to playoff contention?

I have my doubts. Last year we netted one primo players at WR which was not a position of need. Now this year we have about 5 positions of need and this scouting staff and FO really coughed a hairball in the draft and FA and our team had zero chance as we saw with all the injuries and sloppy coaching..

So I am skeptical this team is robust enough to over come that in 2021. Just my basic feeling.

Other thoughts are welcome as we all wait for the cows to come home.

Let her rip brothers.

Mods feel free to move this to Draft zone if needed.

Do you feel it’s a good idea to reach for a player at a position of need?

WR was a need position last yr as they needed to replace Randal Cobb.

Most don't use their 1st pick on a 3rd WR.

He fell and was at 6 on their board and not taking him made no sense. He does give them some wiggle room with Gallup so he was the right pick and he might be the eventual #1WR. I didn't like it at the time because I wanted to start fixing this D but the D player to do that wasn't there.

I want a D player this year at 10 but if Pitts falls to 10, I am all over that. Lamb falling to 17 was the surprise of the 1st round. Many had him as their #1WR on their boards, above Jeudy and Ruggs. I do not see that happening with Pitts this time.

Yes, if a blinking light player falls to 10, they would take that player such as Pitts or Sewell.

Lamb is solid
Diggs is a starter
Gallimore was a steal
got IMO starting center

Short shopping list for needing to shop for a big picnick if you ask me. McCarthy should have seen we needed a lot more mouths to feed coming..I just think like everything about this team we fans get oversold on our situation and we constantly pay the price then wakeup and whine all offseason. Sound familiar.?

Last years draft was successful by most standards. This years draft has 49 players with starter grades but only 12 day one quality starters. If they draft right they could end up with 3-6 eventual starters.

I always have my doubts that they will pick the right players. I'm usually screaming at the tv for a certain player and they pick some one else. But IMO, especially early, they usually do fairly well at drafting good players and usually at the right spots. But it seems that most of the later picks just don't pan out because our scheme/coaching sucked. Lets hope Big Mike can change all of that.

With no NFL Combine during this offseason, Scouting has become more difficult. But it's just another challenge the scouts will have to overcome. I'm sure they can still get the job done and get the information our FO needs to build a superior draft board. We need a draft as good as we had in 2020.

The doubt about drafting the right players is common ground with most fans but I do agree. They usually do fairly well, at least early on.

To start, I think you should write a song parody to the Olivia Newton John Grease song and post a video of you singing it.

I can promise a like out of the deal.

As far as the draft, you can look at 2005 and know that its possible.

Overall I personally think it's a very weak draft.

But hey....stranger things have happened.

I'm very skeptical of these upside players that need to develop but have the "traits" and have opted out and/or only played one or two years and think they're ready for the draft. Jayson Oweh and Gregory Rousseau are examples.

Slummer luvin', the son or the dad
Slummer luvin', Defense is bad
Met a guy, had a hurt knee
Draft him son, can't fire me

So if 3 CB’s are off the board would you rather have CB #4 or Kyle Pitts?

If 3 CBs are off the board, if possible I'm trading 10 for another late first round or early second round pick. For this team I'd prefer a more quantity of good players on defense than one great player on the side of the ball that is already pretty good....
