Good breakdown of Parsons film

Two years of experience as a linebacker. All world athleticism. His ceiling is high.
He’s ranked the best defensive player in this draft and he took a year off. That says a lot about him. If he falls to us, we should be ecstatic. Your linebacker core will get a makeover and could be one of the best in years ahead.

HE does need more experience in coverage but his instincts, IQ and all world athleticism lead me to believe he'll be perfectly fine in coverage. He's nothing like our current LBr corp and not even close to Carter.

He's a LBr, we just need him to clog passing lanes in zone and keep up with RB's. He's not going to be covering WRs / TEs.
Just saying, to use a top 10 pick on that position, the team has to view him as a 3 down player. He is going to need more experience and a little development to get there. He has Bobby Wagner upside, but he's not there yet.

We just haven't seen Parsons much in coverage, it's a projection at this point. To take an off the ball linebacker at 10, he has to be a 3 down player. Add in immaturity concerns, very risky pick.
All draftees are projections at this point.

I have no idea why you'd say that. Parsons is one of the safest picks in this draft. Prolly 2nd behind Sewell.

On off ball backer with two years of experience at the position who just took a year off is the second safest player in the draft? Yeesh that's an interesting take...

I just don’t have the concern. He’s going to clog zones and cover flats in coverage. Guys that struggle in coverage as LBs are usually just not good enough athletes to do it. They lack the twitch and fluidity to do it and he’s elite there.

He’ll need to improve route recognition etc but he’s got good instincts so I don’t have concern here.

As long as he’s clean off the field I think he’s one of the least risky players available.

I understand your points. Think he would be an ideal player for more of a hybrid scheme like New England as he has the potential to do it all: play the run, cover and rush. With all the high resources spent at the position and little production to show for it, I don't see the team using another premium pick at least not now. Think it's Pitts or Surtain/Horn for the Cowboys.

I agree, but the team could be looking longer term and think about not extending LVE or just cutting Smith.

Parsons as much as I love him probably won’t be the pick. But they need to prepare for life without Smith and LVE. They need to draft someone with an eye to next year. This draft should be heavy on the front 7.

Using that rigamaroll to evaluate a player instead of his skillset is even more interesting. So, you don't look at how good someone is? Man, that's beyond interesting........

If Parsons is available at 10 and we take a CB I’ll be beyond pissed. There isn’t a CB on his level this year.

You can literally build a defense around that dude.

No joke. Parsons looks like a generational type player. Can't imagine him slipping to 10.

I could see 4 QBs going, Sewell, Chase and teams reaching for another WR and CBs.

We need a little slide but I don’t think it’s unrealistic.

You don’t have to convince me. I’m team Parsons for sure. It comes down to how you see the player. Nothing in this process changes the way I feel about this dude. Thought he was the best defensive player even before they played the season and still feel that way. Some don’t view him as I do but that’s cool. Always good to look back and see if I was spot on or way off. We’ll see..

I think their mindset is, both linebackers were better in a more firmilar, simiplier scheme. Wait and see how they perform and then make decisions next off-season. Think it's 50/50 they pick up Lve's option. I believe a linebacker or even two are drafted, but not with a premium selection.

That's fine...but for a team that was allergic to run defense last year if a player like Parsons falls you have to take him IMO.

Then cut ties with either LVE or Smith.

I don't disagree, but I think they are prioritizing fixing their secondary first.
