Mac Jones 3 to SF

A ton of buzz going around suggesting that SF will take M. Jones at 3. I'm sure most peoples first reaction will be to write this off, I wouldn't be so quick to discount it.

5 qbs going top 8 is looking more and more likely. Obviously, a good thing for Dallas.
 
It could happen. I still think Lance is the guy but I wouldn’t be shocked if it is Jones.

Lance just fits their offense better, IMO. He’s really good on rollouts and throws maybe the best deep ball in the draft. Those two things are high on Shanahan’s list.

Jones is more accurate though, and I really hope it is Mac so 5 can go before Dallas picks.

Seems like huge reach at #3, but I am not a Mac Jones guy either
 
My brain is still broken trying to figure out why they aren't drafting Justin Fields. He's got every physical tool that Lance does and proved himself far more in 2 seasons at Ohio State than Lance did in 1 year at a D-2 school.

But all the smoke I've heard around the 49ers trade up is that it's for Trey Lance. And now people are saying that Mac Jones is in the mix? If you're going to pick him, just hang on to Garoppolo for God's sake. Save yourself the three first-round picks.
 
They were talking about this on sports radio in the Bay area. A reporter who covers the Niners said that he doesn't see Jones going to the Niners in what Shanahan wants to run but he would not put it out of the realm of possibility. He said that he thinks they want Wilson but assume he is going to the Jets. Shanahan is going to the Bama pro day which could be a smoke screen. Reporter also said that he thinks Lance is the guy they are targeting and he can sit behind Jimmy G and learn for a year. Lance is a big strong mobile kid that fits Shanahan's offense well. Just FYI.

SF has no use for a smoke screen. They will be able to get whoever they want, outside of Lawrence and Wilson. A smoke screen makes zero sense.
 
Dallas is taking the first Defensive player off the board... Don't mess it up...

He was saying that the smoke screen was just in case someone jumps them and pick their qb with the Jets pick. Also said that the Niners might like Jones but doesn't think so.

This only makes sense if they don't want Z. Wilson. Which I guess could be possible. I think it's more likely they aren't sending out any smoke screens and they like who they like

I would be shocked. I think they could have gotten Jones at 12 overall and that would have been early. JMO
 
Keep in mind the 49era have a relationship with the Jets head coach (Robert Saleh). It could be they got an idea of what the Jets are planning to do at #2.

It’s entirely possible the Jets stick with Darnold and take Sewell #2 overall to pair with Bechton at OT. That would leave Wilson for the 49ers at #3.

Wilson is going second. That's already done. Whether it's to the jets or some other team, it's basically set in stone.

Wow three first round picks for Jones. I guess the comparisons to Brady are real.:rolleyes:
 
If the Jets don’t take Wilson coach and GM better go into hiding. But it’s really no secret here in NY that Wilson to the Jets is as certain as Lawrence to the Jags.
