McCarthy at Ohio St pro day

Odd that the head coach is there for a bunch of second and third rounders. Guess it's just the volume of prospects that drew him there?

He went home to GB and needed an excuse so he told Booger "hey, I'll go to Ohio State's Pro Day and basically do nothing as I am not a scout and I am the guy that suggested Haha but it wasn't funny".

Considering there were no combines this year for coaches to attend that it makes sense that coaches will have to travel more to get a look at prospects

I really think the way our draft decisions are made are with McClay and co setting the board up and the coaches getting first say on who they want selected.

I said this in another thread but I was pleasantly surprised last year at how we drafted defensively. Pre-2020 draft it seemed we took more trait or scheme prospects than the best player. But last draft, guys like Diggs, Gallimore, and Anae were all high value picks with a more BPA approach than a scheme/traits approach.

Hopefully we can do the same this draft and with prospects we are interested in like Togiai, I’m confident we can replicate that way of drafting.

It did seem like a departure last year; hoping it's the start of a trend, not a fluke
