Jaelan Phillips in play at 10?

Have to think Milton Williams more likely.

You know how we love SPARQ score guys. He’s an athletic freak. Bigger than Ware coming out (260 vs 251), and faster too (4.56 vs 4.6). Not sure on change of direction drills because I don’t see results for those for Phillips.
how does he play? can he disengage from tackles? can he use his arms? how is the swim move? closing speed? tackling? play recognition? multiple moves?

Phillips is really impressive; I’ve been sleeping on this kid the whole time. Dude is instinctive and his motor really jumps out to me. I wouldn’t blink an eye if we took him at #10 and a CB at #44. I think he’s going to be perennial 10-15 sack guy.

I like him. He could go in the mid 20's. I would like him late in the 1st or early in the 2nd.

Brett Kollmann’s take on Phillips. Of all the guys on you tube, I respect his knowledge maybe the most. He knows his football.

Just got to fast forward past the paid promotion stuff to about 1:20 in.

I've been a fan, and now I'm a double fan lol. Nice vid. If Phillips didn't have the history, he'd be one of the best options at 10

No way. Would love him in the 2nd but too many studs should be sitting there at 10. Also, forget all the 40 times this year, it's pointless.

Yep, I’m all about it. He’s hands down the best pass rusher in draft that I’ve looked at. I was originally thinking he was a trade down option if Surtain wasn’t available at #10 (and presuming the team wasn’t interested in taking Pitts or drafting Horn that early), but now I’m wondering if he’s an option at #10. For me, all things being equal it’s Top DE > Top CB all day.

I would absolutely take a top DE over a top CB too. But I hear concussion history and I just can't take that risk

I haven't done a deep dive into his bio. When you say "concussion history" what do you mean? Did he suffer a concussion and took a few games to come back or did he have like a string of concussions? I know that Cavanaugh questions his love for football, but I watched a video of him explaining the background and context of all that. Not to mention, when you see him in pursuit chasing down RBs from the backside....the last thing that comes to mind is his love for football.

I'm a little fuzzy on the details. But I believe he suffered a few concussions, UCLA told him he couldn't play anymore, and then he transferred to Miami.

I don't doubt this guy wants to play football. But head injuries are the worst of the worst for an athlete's career

I have also been comparing him to the Watt brothers so that's cool to hear him do that as well.
Dude is a flat out beast. I have been thinking about this and was wondering if we were going to again pass or miss out on a stud pass rusher? We did it for a need pick with Tyron Smith over JJ. Not that Smith hasn't been worth that pick, just they we tend to have issues every time we have a chance to get a stud on the D-line. When we will get the chance to just make the pick and take the stud and deal with the rest later? It's far past time so I'm hoping he some how ends up a Cowboy.

He had a 4.12 SS, so his change of direction, like his speed & explosion, are elite for his size. Since he backed it up with production, especially in the back half last season, I would love for him to wear the star-even at 10.
