Listen up. This draft has nice DT talent in rounds 2 and 3. However, they will be flying off the boards starting in mid to late round 1. You once again have an opportunity to fix the middle of the DLine. Which is the next step at this point toward super bowl contention. Please please please don't waste this chance again to fix this problem that has been haunting us for years. No lanky guys or guys w/ stiff hips.

I know DT's are hard to draft, I get it. However, that's the missing piece. Along w/ S, of course.

Guys you should be aiming for in round 2: Tyler Shelvin, Alim McNeil, Bobby Brown at NT and Darius Stills at the 3.

I love McNeil...think he's arguably the best DT in the draft and he's one of my top round 2 targets.

My problem with this class is it's a bunch of penetrating 3T types where I"m not sure if they can anchor. We already have an up and coming 3T in Gallimore so I'd love to try and get a better run D player that can help balance that out.

I think 3rd round is the sweet spot as I don't really like a lot of these dudes enough for the 2nd. Wilson, Togiai & Brown seem like good options.

Some names to keep in mind that I have heard or read that they have interest in

Marvin Wilson FSU
Tommy Togai (sp?) Ohio State
Milton Williams Louisiana Tech
Serious question: Why do we keep focusing on guys who can't change direction? Do we not know how important this is? Wilson is a question mark for me as his lack of durability and possible core stiffness may keep him from being more than a rotational type. He's also had 3 surgeries. No idea what for, but he missed 7 games in 2 seasons.

Milton Williams looks like a Crawford clone to me. At his size(278), wouldn't he be a tweener w/ no real position?

They like TT so much that Mike M and Quinn both traveled to Ohio states pro day to watch him and talk to him. They also met with Werner and Browning.

Jerry needs to quit messing around. Draft monster DT Christian Barmore in the 1st round. He would be a beast for us at 1-tech for many years to come.

Many good CBs can be had in the 2nd round.

Must agree. AND I would be ok at 10 with him. He is THAT good and that much of a need for us. Improves us on the backend day 1 because of how he penetrates the gaps and pressures the QB.

Shelvin’s numbers from yesterday might make him available on Day 3 but I’m with you— I’d love to have someone to plug into the middle of our D for years to come.

We haven’t had a dominant interior force since Jay Ratliff.

All comes down to analysis of what's wrong with his team and how to address that.

It's very simple to me, goal #1 in this draft is to address the run D. If he wants Smith to be his cornerstone, than put some beef in front of him and keep the OL off him so he can make tackles at the line, not 3-5 yards downfield. Look at how many of Smith's tackles are head on as opposed to from the side or behind. I still do not think he's very good but he could me made better with some better DT's.

All of the talk about 1st round values doesn't really matter if they do not come away from this draft addressing the most obvious problem on this team. They have to give the new DC the players he needs to stop the run. This grand offense won't matter because even teams that don't like to run the ball will run the ball against the Cowboys and keep that 40M QB on the sideline while they eat clock with long drives and keep the score down. Low score favors every team they will play.

I think they like Milton for the precise reason you mentioned.
They like his versatility like they did with crawford.
Plus he will be a lower round draft pick.

Realistically if you can draft a Crawford clone in the 2nd/3rd it’s not a bad pick. Crawford was a solid starting player from ‘14-‘18...not his fault Jerry overpaid.

Williams was 284 at his pro day and still tested as good/better than most 260 lb edge players. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that going from La Tech diet and training to the NFL’s will allow him to maintain a healthy 290 and still be an athletic freak at DT.

I want McNeil and Brown -- I really hope they draft both of them. Both look like they can anchor on a double team, and are quick enough to pressure on single blocks.
I like Barmore, but see him more as a 3T than a 1T. Definitely a huge handful for one person to block. I can envision a little pressure with Tank, Barmore/Nixon, McNeil/Brown, Gregory -- without the need of "others" .
I like Nixon as a 3T as well.

I am sure that others have done a much better job scouting the big guys, but I really wouldn't be upset if Dallas drafted both McNeil and Brown for 1T and took one of the other two for 3T to work with Gallimore and Hill.
Draft capital of 3DL to actually fix the DL issues would be a wonderful thing to me.

No issue at all drafting 2 at all. I wouldn’t mind seeing CB, DT, DT, CB, LB in that order for our draft.
