we suck I got in on good authority by the experts in zone. The fact is we don't know and every year is different. if your a glass half full guy you are optimistic because if nothing else you are returning healthy players. Your defense played better the last part of the season and depending on draft I believe you have an improved roster. Nolan's gone. If you're a glass half empty guy we didn't address the needs as well as we could have during FA and the roster don't look any better. We got jags for replacements. (bargain bin)the cowboys are going to draft Pitts and jerry sucks.

I think we win the division with 6 losses

Safety ... yes (if Kazee remains healthy)

Sam ... yes (If Neal remains healthy. Should benefit Jaylon)

Corner ... will be after the draft
I don't feel that way at all.
The Falcons had a worse pass defense than us before Kazee got hurt.
CB the question was after FA and now we have to use a high draft pick on a CB that no matter how good he is will probably take time to adjust the the NFL. And if someone like Pitts is there we have to consider passing on him because of need.
I have no expectations for neal playiing LB but if he comes in and plays at a high level it would be a plus.
I feel that Aldon Smith is a better third pass rusher than Basham.

Hater is used to describe anyone with an opposing view.

Hating how one's team is run is not hating on the team.

Not being a fan of Prescott, Elliott, Booger or anyone else associated with the team doesn't make anyone a hater.
This should be response number one like an auto reply to every thread going forward. The whole hater/ quitter thing makes a lot of feel like we are arguing with a 4 year old in the sand box.

Gotcha.

I don't like the direction of the team at all. I always hope for the best, but I try to be realistic about everything also. I wish we could get sign some guys that we know will contribute for us, instead of guys that are on clearance because of injury or lack of production.

I hear ya, i personally don't like this patchwork bandaid approach having a one year try because they are going to be right back in the same situation next year. Either they play well and they can't afford to sign most of their one year players, or they stink and you are not gonna want them back. 8 free agents with most having ifs, ands, or buts on them is not sensible, i would prefer them getting at least 3 solid FA who are legit starters and are 100% healthy at DT, LB and FS. Then you get your CB, back up FS, backup LB, DL, OL, CB and build for the future. But hey,
i'm sure their tried and tested method has been very successful through the years. So why deviate from it.

Kazee played in only four games last season. Their corners were inexperienced and worse than ours. Neal moved around but I believe graded positively on the year.

After FA at corner? Sure. Awuzie was a turd. He apparently didn’t want to be here anymore. Let’s not act like he’s losing Byron Jones. Brown, Diggs, Lewis I feel n do that job. But it’s unfair to judge them as a whole as we know one starter will be added.

Smith was good for his first few games. Didn’t do much after. Am I opposed to resigning him? No. According to sources there is more going on to him. So Basham is good insurance

Question, why is the word "hater" used so much around here to describe people with different opinions?

I believe the defense will still be bad and we will still be a bad football team overall. Does it make me a "hater" if I do not believe we are the Super Bowl bound because we signed a a few C level players coming off injuries. Are we pinning all our hopes on some rookies coming from the draft?

And in reality every year we see the same posts about how we improved in FA and then reality sets in.

You’d think the “homers” would have learned over the years to stop praising the front office for their FA process.

I believe praise is completely different than remain positions some moves work out.

Nobody is out here doing a hoe down dancing over these signings. Just hoping they help improve the team

Even though he obviously ran out of gas after being out of the NFL for so long and not much a training camp Smith had more sacks than Basham.

Kazee played in four games last year and as far as I can tell did nothing ohter than a few tackles. His 7 interceptions in 2018 had dropped to 3 and 2019.

Yeah they will replace Awuzie but it will come at a cost.

So back to the original question after free agency so far do you think we've upgraded our defense other than Urban who I think could improve our run defense.

I feel ya, but it’s a two way street. Hope and optimism is highest during two times... with a winning streak during the season, and the 5-6 months proceeding.

History is pretty clear here. The Cowboys FA process rarely succeeds. So when people ask if the team was improved this offseason, “yes” isn’t the answer I think we should be stating.

thread after thread of the same thing on the same topic or changing topic context to suit your discussion (such as non prescott threads being made prescott threads) Hater would be appropriate. example being i cant stand zeke (not on aria's level)and make no bones about it. Ill still root for him on sunday but i cant stand him. I could be deemed a hater Pappy is a hater and embraces it so yes hater can be appropriate

The answer is........ who knows.

History, however, tells us these kind of moves rarely pay off for Jerry and the Cowboys.

Hopefully this is the year they bucks that trend.
Looney, Aldon, Hardy, Cobb, McFadden all pretty damn good. Plus, another aspect is that signing one year deals increases the # of comp picks the following year. That's why we have 10 picks this year.

Watkins and Woods? No

Kazee? Yes

Neal? Yes

Basham? Even
Wait and see on Neal.
For me Kazee no and Basham no.

But the bottom line is I really don't think we've gone from a bottom of the league defense to a top 10 or even top half of the league and that doesn't win in the playoffs.

Hardy? LOL.

The list of free agent failures dwarfs any “successes” we had. The Cowboys are not that good at FA.

Their strategy largely relies on luck and hope. It hasn’t really worked thus far but maybe it does this time.

Hardy was pretty good just a head case.

What about the comp picks we're getting?

No..

The roster looks identical and our big upgrade from last season will be rookies..

This is why we are constantly spinning our wheels and never getting anywhere.. The Jones’s believe in their plan even though their plan has never worked.

The fact that we have some decent turnover on defense is a good sign. It’s gotta be better than last season. I’m thinking we’ll likely use our first two draft picks on defense as well. That’s where we have a chance at adding playmakers.

What about comp picks? Other than Jones’ comp pick they have largely been in the later rounds and those guys are typically long shots anyway. A couple have turned into nice players but not many.

The Cowboys are not very good at FA. It’s bizarre people actually argue otherwise.
