Game Plan for our 1st & 2nd Round Picks

The best strategy for me is to not fall in love with a player and trade down to get as many late 1st/early 2nd round picks as possible. But if we have to sit and pick at 10 I’m taking one of the two OT’s. Pitts will be gone and the talent at CB, Edge, Safety, and DT does not justify a too 10 pick IMO.

Not a terrible idea but his concussions worry me, like it does everyone else. I do agree that he’d be very good as a LEO for Quinn. If we can assume for a second that Dallas vetted Phillips and came away liking both his commitment to football and his concussion issues, then yeah, I’d be fine with them doing this.

And if they do indeed draft him, you’d have to think they feel confident about any issues.

I also like the two corners that you’ve targeted for Dallas’ second pick. Getting Phillips and Newsome (or Stokes) would be a very good first couple of picks.

If you’re too worried about Phillips, you could make a similar choice in Ojulari with a slight trade back. If you could net a 3rd in a trade back, then you could still trade up in the second using that 3rd. That way you’d still have a first, second , and two thirds.

This and the drop-off is steeper between 1st and 2nd round OT’s than it is with 1st and 2nd round CB’s.

I agree, Phillips will be a riser up draft boards.
Acceleration, relentless motor, & a nasty pursuit to the QB.
If medicals check out, good value.

Newsome would be excellent value, as well.

I guess I will never understand the meteoric rise of some players --- when there is no football being played.

I read somewhere where Jerry don't like to draft U of Miami players...It surprised me a few years ago where we drafted a DE from the "U". He didn't stick around to long before being shown the door.

I think Surtain is worth the #10 pick, so give him to me if it's possible. Plan B would be Parsons - IMO, we will end up with whichever one Denver does not want.

The shopping list for me at #44 is OT (super deep year, there may be starter level talent into the 40s), DT (basically Alim McNeil or bust), LB, double down at CB, or deep safety. It depends on who ends up there but my thinking is pretty much best defender available.

He's right. That and a couple run stuffers.
I was surprised when I looked up our sacks last year Lawrence 6.5, Gregory 3.5, Smith 5. They've been showing interest in the edge guys this year including a big crew at Miami's pro day so they might be thinking the same way and I wouldn't mind that.

Dallas could also pick the Corner first and then trade up to get the DE. He'll probably be there late in the first round.

What's with his concussion issues?

a trade back into the teens would get him and net other picks
