Make your case for whom you want at 10

Let's try to make this realistic, although anything can happen, but let's say:

4 QB's, Sewell, Pitts, 3 WR's are all off the board, who is your guy?

Slater-in my opinion, just makes too much sense. OL is starting to age and breakdown. Our all pro center retired, the other 3 high-end starters missed significant time. We just signed our franchise QB, run game struggled last season with all the injuries up front. Whenever, this team has had success in the recent past, is when their line was healthy and performing at a high level. Slater has the ability to turn our OL into good, back to elite.
Since we restructured the OLine’s contracts, I’d have to think the FO thinks their health is better than what we perceive. With that being said, my guy is Jaycee Horn.

Horn is the best athlete at CB. He is grabby, very sticky, but he plays like a Jalen Ramsey: physical. I believe thats the excellent complement opposite of Trevon Diggs. Will he produce penalties (especially being a Cowboy), yes. I believe his stickiness will have QBs throw to Diggs’ direction and have him flourish with interceptions.

Surtain
reason:
According to Pro Football Focus, Surtain played the most defensive snaps without a penalty committed this season (916) while allowing 6 penalties the season prior.
A Technical Marvel:
What’s most impressive about Patrick Surtain is his ability to understand route combinations and drive at the ball. He rarely misses a step and quick to react when the ball is in the air.

This is a guy who rarely gets thrown at. Surtain was targeted only one time per every 10 coverage snaps and allowed a reception every 25 coverage snaps (#1 in the country).
Man coverage will likely be his biggest strength in the NFL.

Patrick Surtain II is by far the best press-man cornerback in the draft. He’s got skills that will allow him to thrive on the outside and in a Cover-3 scheme in the NFL.

The only reason he is a technical marvel is because of his dad. He received 5 star training/coaching at young age. His athletic/physical traits are more like late 1st round/early 2nd round.

Agree
I’m not on board with Surtain at 10

How does that complement Diggs? I suggest you go and view both CB's footage against Pitts. There's a headless raw approach to Horn, physical yes, but there's a distinct lack of composure.

Gonna be a lot of unhappy folks here when Surtain is the pick. Best hope that he’s off the board. Then they can turn to their fall back option Horn. Wait another CB. Lol

He doesnt play like Ramsey at all. And the "dawg" in him is overrated

My case for the player at 10:

Trade down and pick up another second.
1) Barmore -DT
2a) Moehrig - FS
2B) Collins - LB

I would want this because I want to sure up the middle of the D before anything else. In the third add a CB and OT.

A dawg to me is a guy that either plays beyond the whistle or plays the mental/trash talk game. Thats not saying you have to do those things to be great but people calling Horn a dawg is false. I thought he was at first but after watching alot of him.........no. There are alot of great corners who werent like that but I think the a ramsey comparison is bogus.

1:10 is what I think of when I hear a dawg at cb. Or you can go to Lattimores match up with Evans.

How is the “dawg” in him overrated ?

I’m calling bull**** on that claim.
Yeah, Surtain is very good physically, both in his size and athleticism.

I don’t really get why people keep thinking that. Just because he doesn’t quite run as fast as Farley in the 40 yard dash? He has good athleticism, really good size, runs just fine and is technically and mentally extremely proficient.

He’s a great corner prospect and is perfect for what Quinn wants to do in Dallas.

Just because you’re trained by your dad doesn’t make you elite.

Look at the sons of Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, Walter Payton etc. It’s good enough to get you into college and some into the NFL (Jarrett Payton). But there are more kids that don’t make it than Kellen Winslow Jrs (hope he enjoys prison)

"starting to break down" is the key phrase.

Our entire defense has been broken down for years. Whos are our starting tackles? Collins and Smith. Who can we move to tackle when Smith is done? Martin.

I would have no problem with Sewel, but if he isnt there, then go defense.

Trust me, Dak doenst need a RB or great Oline. What Dak needs is a defense.
