Interesting thought Deangelo Hall had about Surtain

Would this be another bad idea like what the Cowboys did to Bryon Jones after they drafted him?

I think the thought is more if he doesn't work out at corner. No way you draft him and immediately try to make him a free safety. The fact that he could play free safety makes it easier to take him, though, because he's unlikely to bust. Either he's a top-notch corner or he's a top-notch safety.

I actually think Horn would be a much better safety than Surtain. Horn excels when he keeps eyes in the backfield and can break. I think he'd be an all pro caliber safety.

Surtain is so good with his hands and with the jam, I'm not sure it would make any sense to move him.

There was and interesting tidbit on Surtain during Path to the Draft.

Their analytics expert (can't remember her name) mentioned that Surtain had the same closing speed in the fourth quarter, that he had in the first quarter. I think she mentioned that it was the fastest closing speed of all the top CBs. His endurance was very impressive.
