There isn't a number that I would hold sacred. I would however attempt to honor previous players, by judiciously issuing that number to a player I think possesses franchise talent. I enjoyed Chuck Howley and Randy White both wearing #54, Bob Hayes and Emmitt Smith while wearing #22 and Drew Pearson, Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant and to a lesser extent Cee Dee Lamb in #88. If we found ourselves drafting a franchise quarterback in the future, I would have no problem cheering him as he takes the field wearing number # 12
Go Cowboys :flagwave:

I agree with you. It should be more like an honor to get to wear the number of a great and reserved for those the team believes will live up to that honor.

Aw, man. I thought for sure this would rile some of you up. Sometimes it's fun to poke the bear.

By the way, I think 4 also should not be allowed to be worn by any Dallas player ever again. There's no way I can separate associating that number with the great Mike Saxon.

I was hoping we’d of brought in Brady or Rodgers and brought # 12 out of the closet.

I don’t believe in retiring numbers . Because of NFL rules are limited to the numbers available per position.
