ESPN discusses NE trade up for QB

Is Gilmore in the last year of his contract? He might want big money next year since I think it will be the last contract he will sign. I think he is getting up there in age. Could be wrong about this though.

I think Gilmore is in his last year and his big pay days are over at 31. If I’m moving out of the top ten and they want a QB; I’m asking for their 15 ,2nd and restricted free agent CB not Gilmore.

If I’m not mistaken Gilmore is owed 7 million for this year. You can let him walk for a big payday next year and get a 3rd rd comp if you wanted to go that route.

Something is off here. Why is NE willing to trade a really good CB who is owed only 7 million, to move up a few spots? Why not just trade a 3rd or at worst a 2nd round pick?

Bill plans for the future. This is GIlmore's last year. BB is not going to give a 32 old CB another contract. As he has always done, better to get rid of the player one year early than one year late.

Are you comfortable resigning Gilmore at top $ who would be entering his age 32 season on a new deal?

Aging player vs draft picks .....especially one looking for a last big payday

At 31 he can still be good for 2 or 3 years. He doesn't have to be great If the contract isn't ridiculous. And it means LB S DT and even O-Line depth can all be had this draft. I could see that being tempting for the braintrust.

I believe NE need to trade ahead of Denver at 9 to get the QB they want. So Carolina is the likely trade partner.

Seems CB contracts are more times than not...ridiculous...so you are taking a big gamble on him signing a decent contract.

For me that would have to be agreed on beforehand. If you want to talk about a potential deal, give me access to discuss an extension with the agent TODAY, not with 15 minutes on the clock.

If I can’t do that, I can’t make the deal.

I like the deal because it would push us into a spot to take a rusher at 15....Ojulari or Phillips if Jerry is feeling lucky.

I'm not in love with the safe corner pick in Surtain, or Horn that high.
