It wasn't a presser. At the conclusion of the actual presser on the 3rd day of the draft today, Jerry pointed out Dan Quinn and sought the media on him. These tweets are the result of that meeting.

When he says 3-4 I imagine it won't be a true 3-4 with a nose tackle as a 0T. I imagine it would be more of a shifted 4-3 with tackles in a 1T and a 3T. Unlike a vanilla 3-4 your three defensive linemen won't be two gaping. They will be penetrating like the 4-3.

Parsons can't cover. Neal was brought in specifically to fill that role. Parsons will still be on the field, but if you try to make him into a coverage linebacker you just wasted a pick.

Wow. Someone hasn't watched any film or read scouting reports. He got very high grades for coverage on TE and WR.

What is it with people on this board just crap posting?

He can’t cover or wasn’t asked to cover at PSU. I’m asking because I don’t know.

Quinn seems like a hard person not to like. I like his energy. Let's just hope he can improve the defense in Dallas. It would be incredibly refreshing to watch a Dallas game and feel like you could count on the defense to help close out a game.

Wasn’t asked to cover often.

He can cover and had some success doing it. He is just raw in coverage.

I do think he will be more valuable blitzing in the passing game and rushing the passer.

Parsons is an animal at rushing the passer. 5 star pass rusher coming out of high school.

As I thought. Thanks

It doesn't start until about 22 minutes in.

The guy sounds pretty smart and is definitely easy to listen to.
Interesting tid bits at the end where he's talking about Osa & Quinton Bohanna. He was saying Quinton is a Nose Tackle who'll line up right over the Center, so maybe we'll see some straight out 3-4 packages.

He's very very inexperienced in coverage. He very rarely did it in college and never in high school. If you think that guy is going to come into the NFL and cover TEs, you need to read more. His lack of coverage experience is legitimately his biggest wart--aside from the off the field issues.

3-4 base with the current personnel? Not sure about that one. Never been a fan of that particular defense.

Has been a while since we had a defensive coach with his type of pedigre. That definitely going to command instant respect from the defense.

I want a defense that’s maybe middle of the pack but can win the turnover battle in games. Theoretically if you can give the offense extra possessions we should win most games

When you realize exactly what Quinn said, the draft today makes a lot more sense. The 3rd round was about getting 3/4 DE's. Those guys look terrible as 4-3 players because they are tweeners but in a 3-4 they have distinct roles. It also makes the Parsons pick more obvious. He is going to be the outside guy.

Jaylon and LVE really are in trouble.

It should also be noted that most of the downs are in the nickel. Cox is a great nickel LB.

I would rate the draft as a C-/D+ with a Marinelli style 4-3. When you hear the actual plan, the players fit a lot better and this looks like a much better draft.

Last note: In the nickel, who are the 4 linemen? Does Gregory move inside with Parsons on the outside and DLaw on the other?

Just spitballing, base defense 35% of snaps:
DE DLaw / DT Bohanna / DE Osa
OLB Jaylon / ILB LVE / ILB Cox / OLB Parsons

Nickel 65% of snaps
DE DLaw / DT Osa or Trysten, etc. / DT Gregory / DE Parsons
LB Jaylon / LB Cox
