Pick 44 - Kelvin Joseph, CB

Think of the mix tape this dude can put out once he gets his signing bonus. Who needs football?

He's not a jerk or a criminal. He just doesnt prioritize football like you want. I hope that changes. He'll make more money playing football. He can always rap in the off season or when he retires. Maybe even start a label and use his nfl fame to push his artists. but he has all pro talent.

I just don’t know about this kid...really hoping the team did enough homework on him.

The talent is legit I’m just not sure I would’ve taken the risk seeing as to how often we’ve been burned. Top 50 picks are no joke...we need this to develop into a starter by year 2.

I probably would’ve gone Samuel / Meli if they were honed in CB round 2.

Same. It does appear the team liked him quite a bit, going to the pro day. So I'm hoping that they felt confident in his personality this whole time, and looked at him as a backup plan. It's obvious the talent is there.

It's easy to forget how young these guys are. I remember Beasley being a young dude quitting in training camp, only to be talked off the ledge, and go in to have a super succesful career. This is a real big moment for a 21 year old and not all are equipped to take it seriously. Hoping for the best with Joseph

That’s my concern as well. Has nothing to do with being a rapper. It’s about commitment.

Stoops suggested he just leave because apparently he told the team he didn’t plan on playing in one of their games. I don’t mind independent spirits but that doesn’t conform well to a team concept.

How will this kid respond to “voluntary” workouts in the off-season or training and film study? Does he have the discipline to hone his craft as a professional athlete or will he be distracted or just say “I’m not gonna be doing that?”

We’ll see. He’s got the raw skills.

Yup. Takes will and skill...hopefully he continues to grow and mature and turns into a stud.

If not for his mistakes in judgement, he's a 1st and right there with the two taken in the top 10.

I hope he's not a coach puzzler because those guys keep them up at night trying to figure out how to get the most of of them when they don't want to give it.

But it would not be a Cowboys 2nd round pick without this part of it. I am waiting for our 2nd to be kidnapped by aliens, that's the only thing left that hasn't happened.

I was a mess at 21. No, you could not have convinced me of that.

Bit of a surprise pick here for me.

The talent definitely warrants the pick but does come with some off the field history.

- 6'1, 4.34 40 at pro day (so likely 4.4 athlete)
- 4 INT in SEC tied for league leader
- 0 catches allowed against Alabama

Not the guy I would've taken, but if the FO did their homework on he's a legit top 50 talent. Heard some say 1st round caliber talent.
Hes not 6'1.

This is a big deal. The musicians I know prioritize nothing in their lives, but music. Getting them to show up on time is mostly impossible and their mind is normally somewhere else. Lets hope he takes this payday seriously as he has all of the skills.

Let's not discount that he made zero dollars to play football in college, whereas now, it's his primary income.

If you're playing football for free, yeah, you'd probably invest a lot of your time in something you're passionate about

Musicians are just creative people. Creative people are different. I’d give him a chance first.

Sad to say most of us in this thread saw it coming a mile away!
Were our scouts oblivious to everything that is/was the Baton Rouge rap scene?

"In 2021, Baton Rouge had a record 149 homicides, with more than two dozen murders occurring via drive-by shootings or people riding in or sitting in cars."
