our LB corps were and are horrible. We in 2018 were talking bout having the best cast of LB in the league and then the wheels fell off
I was stoked when they grabbed Parsons and I don’t think the drop off of Joseph from Surtain is that large . I said on Thursday I did not feel like they could mess up pick 10 because we needed help everywhere.
The cornerback class being deep certainly help with going there. My thought process with the linebackers, though, is that we picked up Neal to add to LVE and Smith. Yes, there are questions about LVE and Smith, but we have seen what level they are capable of playing at and we are returning to a similar scheme to the one where they experienced their greatest success.
At corner, the only thing we did was resign a nickel corner after losing the starter, so it was the greater need. It worked out, though. The only thing I'm not satisfied with is the defensive tackle spot. We were awful inside last year, against both the run and the pass. I think we definitely improved against the run, but I'm not sure we did on the interior against the pass. Of course, this draft class didn't offer much there. I just felt like there were some opportunities to take a stab at better run/pass DTs than the ones we got. I would have felt better about it if we'd taken a shot at Marvin Wilson late rather than the guard. He may prove that he was only worth going as a UDFA, but other than strongly addressing the position in free agency or early in the draft, I'm for hitting the position heavily in hopes of someone emerging as an interior player who isn't a liability against either the run and pass.
