He had a good long career and a very long life; so no one should be all that sad.

His television career was mirrored by only a few in certain aspects. He transitioned from one Top 10/Top 20 series (MTM) to another Top 10/Top 20 series (TLB), each belonging to different broadcast networks (CBS and ABC respectively), portraying totally different characters, with the former character being a supporting role and playing a title role in the latter series, in quick-and-seamless fashion.

Rest in peace, Mr. MacLeod. You made your mark in television history.
