Let's look at that. In 2019, when our offense was healthy, we scored 10 points in a 12-10 loss to New Orleans, 9 points in a 13-9 loss to New England, 15 points in a 26-15 loss to Buffalo and 9 points in a 17-9 loss to Philly. Those are all losses where the offense was more at blame than the defense.

The Saints gave up an average of 23.1 points per game (13th overall). The Patriots gave up an average of 14.1 points per game (1st). The Bills gave up 16.2 points per game (16th). The Eagles gave up 22,1 points per game (15th).

Now, if you consider us to have one of the top offenses in the league, then we should do better than average against even the better defenses (and some of these defenses were just average in points allowed). To have the type of offense that can carry a mediocre defense, we can't struggle to score points in games like these. Granted, the conditions in New England were terrible and we did score 37 against the Eagles in the first meeting, but we scored 17-20 points and we win three of those and finish 11-5.
I disagree. You can’t cherry pick a handful of games and declare some agenda. What about the teams in 2019 where they scored a lot and contributed to make them not look as strong on defense?

Yes because doing worse is more advantageous than doing better. That is some special kind of homer logic there.
you are so stupid...omg, I knew you are mentally deficient, but I never thought someone could be this dumb...how the heck did you live to be 15.....wow we are raising some dumb bastads in this country

You believe it is best to lose the SB this year to motivate the team next year.

I think so.

The best offense should score highly throughout a game and move the ball consistently (statistically) throughout a game. They must take leads when the game is tightly contested. They must score at the most critical moments. They must be able to score lots of points when needed. They must not turn the ball over much. They must do that all season long (save a 1-3 games). MOST IMPORTANTLY, they must do it against the best competition, biggest games, and especially in the playoffs. End rant.

I don't know what the offense was ranked when Dak and Zeke were rookies but that is what I dream of. That was a team and an offense that was the following:

Young and hungry and inexpensive.
Balanced with run and pass.
Consistent and repeatable.
Offensive line driven.
QB was super efficient.
QB was a threat to run.

Our new offense is going to light up the league. Yards will be gained at record breaking rates however it will be described as follows:

Veteran players on expensive contracts.
Pass happy.
Explosive at times and stuck in mud at times.
QB and wide receiver driven.
QB is above average efficient.
QB is for the most part drop back.

If we're going to say that we have the best offense in the NFL, then we've got to do better than the average against any defense. Beating up on average or below average teams makes the offense look good, but doesn't mean as much as being below average against teams with better defenses.

Even last year in the opener against the LA Rams, we scored 17 points when our offense was missing only our starting right tackle. I get the feeling the Rams could have scored more than 20 points if needed, but this offense we put together has to be able to score more than 17 in a game like that.

We can't just look at overall scoring numbers, where we blew out some teams with bad defenses, and think our offense is the best. It has to be the best week in and week out. Maybe we don't beat the Rams no matter what last year, but I would have felt a lot better about the offense if it had put up 24-28 points and it had only been the defense that had let the team down.

For comparison sake, the Kansas City Chiefs only had one game last year where they scored fewer than 20 points and they won that game 17-14. Their two losses were 40-32 and 38-21, so it's hard to say their offense let them down. In 2019, the Chiefs lost one game that could be blamed on the offense, 19-13 to Indianapolis. That's what the best offense in the league needs to be.

Cherry picked. Only reason they scored 17 is the refs fell for Ramseys Oscar winning performance

We'll just agree to disagree.

I think "troll" and "hater" get thrown around indiscriminately...as if people think it's some kind of insult.

It's really just a disagreement but they MUST be trolls if they don't see it your way.

Let's just say the guy IS a troll....you've given him exactly what he wants. Attention and encouragement. Good job.

IMHO, the problem with our offense is playcalling in the RZ. We’re top 3 between the 20’s, but...

I agree that it was a bad call. However, this best offense in the NFL converted just 3 of 12 third downs (25 percent) in the game, We do better on that and it's likely that we don't have to worry about a bad call.

I have high hopes for our offense. I felt when McCarthy came aboard that he could take it up a notch from the predictability of Garrett to fully utilize the talent we have on that side of the ball. Last year set that back simply because of all the injuries. I hope that between McCarthy and Moore that they can find a way to be better than average against good defenses.

The Rams averaged giving up 18.5 points per game last year (No. 1 in the league). They were the litmus test for this offense before all the injuries wiped us out, and the offense failed. We can blame it on a bad call if we want, but there were other opportunities in that game for us to get the job done and we didn't.

We need to do more than rack up yardage and points against mediocre or bad teams to be the best offense. Hopefully, McCarthy will be able to do that.
