Seems to be the latest rave in the NFL these days. Meyer is doing it with Etienne, Stealers with Harris to mention a few.

RBs can create mismatches as WR. LBs are too slow to cover a RB in the slot. One can motion a RB into the slot at the last few seconds to create havoc with the defense. Teams will have to dedicate a safety or CB to cover the RB. A RB could block a safety or CB on a jet sweep.

A guy like Marshall Faulk was so good at it he’s in the Hall of Fame.

Was just about to post something similar to this. Now I don't need to.

It would not surprise me to see some WRs in the backfield and teams hitting them on screens and in the flat. More burst and speed.

I think we are seeing the hybridization between TE/HB and WR and RBs. Probably going to see a lot of tweeners between the three positions. All about size and speed mismatches.

Parsons and Cox are good LBs to have with their combo of speed and size vs LVE and Jaylon who have trouble even covering today’s faster TEs.

Wasn't this discussed in the past yet never done under Garrett??

IIRC Pollard was a slash WR type in college.

Maybe Garrett tried it a couple times and it worked and the team then buried it. Seems to happen a lot. That screen play worked better not use it again and let’s go with Elliott up the gut for the tenth time.

MM said before last season started, he always viewed TE / FB as the same type player. So a TE lining up in the back field is used there. Something Garrett and them tried but could never pull it off the right way. But I doubt we see a FB lined up at TE position. It will be interesting to see if they keep a FB this year. They do have 2 on the roster. But according to wikipedia roster, Ralston is listed as a FB/TE.

I'm sure it was brought up....then suddenly....nah, just beat your man lol.

Like the constant investments in a fullback position that was never used.

Good times... good times...

I love the idea of being the team that's the first to go back to a traditional fullback included run offense for a series here and there....similar to the effect the wildcat had.

Reap the initial benefits and force everyone else to catch up....and have the right personnel in there to defend that, plus our spread passing offense, depending.

Think about that....

Coaching matters.

I think Baltimore is already ahead of the rest of the league there. Maybe San Francisco too.

Big Mac gets a lot of hate here but he said more in one press conference than Garrett said in 10 years.

he gets the hate because of his coaching; hiring Nolan, idiot game management on 4th downs, and lying about watching game tape to get hired. His pressers may be his strength.

Package that actually uses a FB that can block in space for inside runs.......the TE's they tried to use recently have sucked at blocking in space and the FB hasn't seen the field.
Using Pollard as the backup RB and as a HBack and a WR..........wow what a concept, actually utilizing players to force mismatches.
2 TE sets with 2 TE's that actually are mismatches in size? Bigger WR that create size mismatches?
Athletic Interior Linemen that can get to the second level?

Is Dallas coaching actually catching up with some of the rest of the league ? ? ? I won't hold my breath, but it is definitely promising.
