What the team liked about Wright, I think, are two things:
  1. He has a nose for the football and is a natural ball-hawk.
  2. He has great length but moves like a much smaller corner.
It is very rare to have a 6’4” guy who is fluid and smooth. Most guys with that length are kind of gangly and herky-jerky in their movements. They don’t have the feet to turn and run like a Kelvin Joseph who is controlled and fluid in everything he does. Wright isn’t that smooth but he is strangely coordinated in his movements for a super tall CB. That is a very valuable thing if you want long DB’s, and it gives him a really high ceiling.

Plus, being a guy who the ball just finds is what Dallas is trying to fill their defensive backfield with… a strategy that I wholeheartedly agree with.

Those things don’t mean that we know he’s going to be great, but it 100% tells us why the team valued him so highly. All-in-all, Wright is a pretty rare package that very much dovetails with what the Cowboys what to do in their secondary and in retrospect, it isn’t surprising at all that they took him.

There is some risk involved, like with any draft pick, but IMO there is a really solid chance that he sticks and makes some plays in Dallas. He could even be very good if things go right.

I’m pretty happy that they have a guy like him to work with.
Yes sir, and Quinn wants big DBs facing the QB instead of blindly chasing receivers in his zone scheme.
I want to see how Wright back peddles in up coming drills, same with all the DBs, but the big boys esp,, Mukuama is definitely in this grouping.

Man I'm so pumped about this season.

I always think everything is going to work out this time of year.

Can't help it.....then I'm Charlie Brown.
I’m the fan that gets hyped even though I know I shouldn’t...just to be let down.....I’m here every offseason and believing lol....

That's why we are fans!! I get the same way. The reset of every season and the renewed optimism is what makes it enjoyable and fun as a fan(to me). I never understood these Debbie-downers that are negative at every turn. I wonder, "why bother"?

This is from DC - look at that catch

FRISCO, Texas – The Cowboys wrapped up their final OTA practice on Thursday at The Star with a spirited workout that saw some of the new faces starting to find their groove as they fit in with the entire roster.

The Cowboys will head into next week's three-day minicamp, but here are some things that stood out from Thursday's OTA:

  • Quarterback Dak Prescott looked sharp in some modified 7-on-7 and team drills, working against no defensive line. He threaded a nice ball to CeeDee Lamb over the middle and connected with rookie Simi Fehoko twice downfield.
  • Catch of the day: Lamb's leaping grab over cornerback Anthony Brown from Prescott for about a 40-yard gain down the right sideline.
  • Strong practice from linebacker Leighton Vander Esch. He had a terrific diving interception on Prescott near the sideline. He said it briefly knocked the wind out of him, but he returned to drills and later blew up a Tony Pollard run play for a would-be tackle for loss.
  • Two more interceptions from the rookie draft class. Cornerback Nahshon Wright jumped a comeback route by rookie receiver Osirus Mitchell to pick off Garrett Gilbert. Linebacker Micah Parsons dropped in coverage and made a leaping interception against Ben DiNucci.
  • Safety Donovan Wilson missed the majority of practice although he did come out of the locker room/weight room area towards the end of practice. During most of the first-team reps, the Cowboys lined up Damontae Kazee and Jayron Kearse as the starting safeties.
  • Veteran linemen Tyron Smith, La'el Collins and Zack Martin also skipped the majority of individual drills. The trio came out together midway through practice and worked into drills during a team period but didn't participate in any physical blocking drills against the defense.
  • Second-year center Tyler Biadasz got most of the first-team reps with the first-team offense. Last week, we saw rookie Matt Farniok get a majority of the reps. Biadasz, who started four games last year, got a heavier workload on Thursday.
  • The Cowboys have several undrafted receivers that all have good size and stature, but one of the roster holdovers from last year made a few plays Thursday. First-year receiver Aaron Parker, who spent all of last year on the practice squad, found himself open a few times down the field and even made a nice catch in traffic over the middle.
That's a pretty misleading still of the catch if it was this one

Its cool to look at now, but I try not to look too close, its underwear Olympics and I cringe when I see franchise players getting even close to exposure so early, its a long camp and I get it HOF game and week early and all.
I want Lamb crushing DBs week eight and beyond,,, patience boys.
Its a very long season this year.

Defense mechanism.

It's supposed to be less disappointing if we convince ourselves we saw it coming.

lamb saved an obvious interception saw the video...so yes great catch but dare i say underthrown poor placement of throw..who threw that? :))

Ridiculous comment. The ball was past the defender and lamb high pointed it. If he continued running it would have been over his shoulder. The only way the defender was even in the picture is where Lamb caught uit, because the defender has playing catch up when Lamb was coming back to the ground.

Don't try to rewrite video hiostory.

Look...you aren't allowed to have your own commentary on the play. Any original or opposing opinion is cause for disqualification.

Hate seeing that much contact in an unpadded practice.
Looks like they could have easily got feet tangled up and twisted.

But...at some point...you have to at least put yourself in/near the play. It's the nature of the game.

I wonder the same thing.....whether people know it or not....when you win it feels much sweeter knowing you dealt with the bad.

I agree. Its also worth noting the league seems to be getting away from the big wide receivers.....aside from DK Metcalf....most of the big receivers in the league are in their 30's now.....Interesting they go to the approach of having big receivers.

When the camera switches to Lamb, the defender is at least a yard behind. That cannot be disputed. So your assertion that all the defender need do is to turn and look back.....

Except he only caught up when Lamb leapt up which slowed his forward movement. Fact is Lamb may have been facing back all along and this was a scramble play. The height of the ball when he "In Your Words two Lamb doesnt go after it like Dez" was at a point he had to go up "like Dez." Because he was no longer running toward the endzone.

A defender a yard behind would not have caught that pass. Which makes your comment ridiculopus.

Glad to hear Wright is doing well. This is why it's good to trust that the team knows what they want in players. Also, that's an incredible catch by Lamb.

I would’ve taken Melifonwu ahead of him but hoping I’m wrong and the reports of his progress continue.
Yeah I understand that. A lot of people would. But to me Melifonwu was a bigger name but i'm not sure if he was a better fit.

Don’t tell that to Lamb
He gets the chance(privilege) to carry the flag. If he is lucky he will be mentioned along with 2 HOFers Pearson and Irvin and then Dez.
I would be honored to carry on a Cowboy tradition and wear a number of several HOF athletes as opposed to some lucky number I wore in high school or college.
