I'm picturing a WR screen and Pollard torching the DB who was assigned to him. One man to beat is every RB's dream.

Like this a lot. If you saw him at Memphis, then you know he was a playmaker and made the most out of his limited touches as the RB2.

What do you want, them throwing passes at guys on the bubble or to a player that is a known commodity and will be on the team? Find ways to get him on the field more and at the same time as the RB1.

The game is worry the defense. Put another weapon out there they have to be concerned about and one that is a very good runner with the ball in his hands.

This is like Payton getting Taysom Hill on the field with Brees, he makes plays, he's no good on the sideline. Put him in as TE/HB and get him the ball.

I like Tony Pollard because he has that same #2RB mindset he had in college. Guys like that make the most out of opportunities because they're constantly trying to get more.

Tom Brady made a living in NE out of using RB's as WR's. Is is possible that Pollard could be the Cowboys version of James White?

The more touches that Pollard gets as receiver, the better and more dynamic this entire offense becomes.
That should have been fast tracked, look at how Pollard can be dynamic, more dynamic, why would anyone not endorse this.
Excellent...it's what I was thinking as well. We have so many weapons...and this offense needs to practice working them in. This would be a great opportunity to use some disguise and misdirection. Rather than just putting Pollard in when Zeke raises his hand.

In my opinion, for as much Zeke is getting paid, he should automatically be a 3 down RB. He's the one who should be out there running passing routes and getting the ball thrown to. So...why is it Tony Pollard getting placed out there on passing downs, instead of Zeke? Why pay Zeke so much money if you're not going to use him on passing downs?
But coaches must manage the plays better. They need designed calculated plays for Pollard so zeke comes in like surgicalal strike....rather than after he called for a breather. Just random chaos at that point.

Zeke needs to be in shape with his head in the game...but I totally blame coaches for mismanagement. Why are you blaming zeke's contract for it? Like a hater.

Easy answer. To maximize. Basically, if you want to get your money's worth out of Z, you must give him breathers, especially so he's fresh in the 4th. Never giving him a breather, as you're suggesting, actually results in the opposite of what you're suggesting, it would assure that you won't get your money's worth.

Getting your money's worth out of a player does not equate to playing him every down.

The front office has been protecting Zeke.

*runs*
I think the team just trusts Zeke in pass protection more, and that's probably what's kept him from taking a bigger chunk of passing down/formation work. I don't see the front office telling the coaches, "You're playing Pollard too often in passing situations." Now, if he eats into Zeke's carries in the running game too much for the front office, I could see them stepping in to protect Zeke and to tell the coaches to cut it out with giving Zeke's carries to Pollard.

Apparently some here have not kept up with Pollard's progress at one stretch he returned 3 kickoff returns three 50 to 60 yards so he is improving upon "blunders"
Hopefully, because initially his kick off returns were an adventure

I guess I'm the only one concerned we have only 2 RBs.....and one is fat, lazy and overpaid. Pollard goes down....your looking @ signing Frank Gore....and hoping all goes well.

They often are for young players. The NFL has better players on the ST than most college teams have on their team.

Felix had to adjust to the speed when he started doing it because he was used to being the fastest player on the field when he led the NCAA in kick off returns.

It’s early in OTAs, so this is the time that coaches like to experiment a little bit and try out some looks they might not in-season. Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy appears to be doing just that, revealing that dual-threat running back Tony Pollard has been taking snaps at Wide Receiver.

In college he was awesome on short passes and the yards after catch. The Cowboys have not used him much on the routes that were his best in college.

He’s always been a solid return guy
He’s made some bad decisions on what to return but he’s really improved on his decisions too
