It's not at ALL about "deserve."

They qualified per schedule formula that's been in place since the Texans joined the league.

Who were the other options?

The Saints with no QB?

Either the league doesn't buy into Buffalo as a ratings draw, or they didn't see interconference as ideal.

The Cowboys were the logical choice by far and I started a thread on it in January.

I was actually surprised how many didn't agree that Dallas would play in that game.

I personally see it as a lose/lose scenario for us in my own warped way....but we will have 16 other shots to win games.

its all about ratings. of course its Brady and Tampa. Of course its Dak coming back and of course its Jerry. Has nothing to do with deserving anything based on performance....

BOO...HISS...

It has everything to do with deserving. And based on potential performance. Not from last year based off of one of the most injured teams in NFL history.
Yes in history. SF had more injuries than us last season, and they looked like crap also. But if SF was to play this game, you would not make this comment at all. You would probably applaud it.

Another team that may have had one of the worse injured teams in history was the Washington Commanders..yes before they became the football Team. The year after they won the SB in 91, they had a huge rash of injuries it seemed. And need up with a losing record. Pre FA and salary cap. But Dallas & SF were right up there last year.

Yes we have potential to be very good, and I think the NFL knows this. And know it will draw ratings, as they want a huge night to start the 2021 season with stadiums full of fans after what transpired last season. So yes we DESERVE this because they know what it means. And we know what it means.

Exactly, and the idiots just don’t get it. Every year they argue against it, which actually works against THEM! “Dallas is NOT America’s Team! ________ is!” Sometimes I DON’T like it. It makes us a target. Makes a nice weapon when some snarky ABD starts something, though....

I don’t understand this whole “deserve” issue. 2020 is over, 31 teams fell short of their goals, and you have a league full of parity.

Since when does it matter who deserves this game? The only thing any team deserves is to play the games as listed on their schedule.

as of today everyone is 0-0.

the cowboys bring ratings, a high powered offense, and a punchers chance to upset the super bowl champs. It’s not like this team is on the same level as the jets or Jaguars.

Ok. But how did they get branded "America's Team" in the first place?
By winning, and at one time highly regarded as the best sports organization in America.
.
I'm making a judgement on who's more worthy to play the past year's champions. That seem silly to me.

I am a big cowboys fan myself. but given last years performance, there is no gaurantee of this year's performance. and potential? everyone has potential this time of year. one can argue Giants and Philly and WFT all have potential too. there are others that have potential too and are better "potential" candidates than us. so its not based on performance. I am not knocking the cowboys, I am just being realistic.

teams at the end of the year, get shuffled on TV based on their "performance", playoff implications etc. We got flexed out of a couple of slots last year because we weren't deserving of the time slots......its based on "draw" and "interest" for the first game of the year to kick things off. Cowboys are popular, even when we are bad, we are popular and that popularity gets you in the first game of the year. so they could have shuffled the weeks and had Bills and Tampa start. One was a super bowl winner. one was in AFCCG and up and coming team and could be preview of superbowl perhaps...but Bills aren't the same draw as us. Why not shuffle the weeks and chose Rams, who just traded for Stafford and one of the favorites in NFC, but they are not the same draw....wh and there were other teams they could have chosen, not just Tampa, why not GB and KC...... potential superbowl match up, or KC and SF, who played two years ago. the opponents are set based on the formula, but the weeks and when games are played aren't set and NFL sets those....they chose Dallas and Tampa, because probably they would have the biggest draw and ratings than all the other potential matchups they could do as they start the season..

I am not poopooing anything. again, just being realistic.

I'm sure there's a valid reason why the NFL chose to go with Dallas as the Bucs' opponent!
We're a guaranteed draw and they realize it. Years upon many years of ratings tell them so!

This team deserves no nationally televised games. They should be playing 17 Sunday noon games.
