He's rich beyond belief of course, but he never demanded the biggest contract ever when he would've been the one guy that truly deserved it. He should've been far and above every other QB in the league in terms of money, but he was never the highest paid QB in the league.

That's why he's got 7 rings and 10 trips to the super bowl. He never handcuffed his team for the love of money.

I'm sure there are some that actually love the game but every one needs money and if you just so happen to be an exceptional athlete who tends to be good at football...why not? It was a different game back then. Sure, you still probably made more money than most people but it wasn't something that was going to make you so rich that all you need is that one contract and you'll never need to work again. So of course you had to love the game. I don't love baseball but if I was really good at it and someone wanted to give me a 10-year, $250m contract you can be damn sure that I'm signing it immediately.

Daks proved it time and time again sacrificing his body for the good of the team. Getting better every year because he works hard on his craft. Building a football field in his yard so he and his receivers can work on their game during the offseason. You’re just blinded by your intense hate and can’t see it because you don’t want to see it. All you haters are that way.

No doubt players want to be paid and I think there are players who are in it for the money alone. But I think there are many who play because they do love this game. Why else would you put yourself in a situation of playing in pain, pain that would have many people here taking time off from work yet these guys will strap on the pads and hit the field. Jason Witten played 15 season missing 1 game in all that time, playing with a broken Jaw, playing with sprained knees and played with a lacerated spleen. He could have sat and no one would have blamed him but he played. Same with Romo with his broken ribs and punctured lung, yet returned to the field in SF and helped lead the team back, after that he has to wear a protective jacket to get through the game but anyone who has experienced broken ribs knows it is damn painful just taking a deep breath let alone having defenders hitting you. Guys do not do this just for the money and there are many like Witten and Romo who play through the pain

I remember in the playoffs in 2018, we were playing against the Seahawks, and he had nearly a John Elway helicopter spin for a crucial first down. That was impressive how he put his body on the line. I think the subsequent touchdown won the game for us.

Well said. There certainly are players that play for the money only but those are vastly in the minority. @acr731 said there were none which is one of the most ridiculous posts made in recent memory.

All players are about the money, the sport is built around money. But that doesn't mean that don't love playing the game to get that money.

I don't follow a lot of what they do outside the season and really don't care but when gameday gets here and they tee it up, that's when I care and that's when they care. That's the only time the money takes a backseat to the play. For most of them, the money doesn't matter, it's all about the game and their teammates at that time.

There is another element to this that we don't consider because we don't live it. Who else, besides us, is watching them play? Their families, friends and other players.

And it gets deeper than that for some of them with people they've lost. Look at that game Favre played after he lost his father. Think Prescott doesn't feel him mother's presence at games. Many of these players are playing for others that affect and affected their lives. And it can be as simple as playing for a sick child at home and every human being has the need, the drive, to make others proud of them.

That's when it gets real for me and the money and all the ancillary BS is gone, the game. I don't care what they're being paid because they're just football players playing my favorite sport and how they play the game matters.

I don't doubt the effort that Dak has put out in the past and the effort after the contract was signed in the rehab work he put in. Quite honestly even if he and the Cowboys win a SB I don't think it justifies the amount athletes are paid, I think all these guys are getting paid way too much. Then again I think people in the entertainment industry get paid way too much. To single out Dak, I don't agree with.

As for players not having a love or passion for the game, most sane people would not endure the pain and long term effects without a love for what they do.
