John McAfee Dead!

John McAfee, the tech innovator whose name is synonymous with antivirus software, died by suicide on Wednesday hours after a court approved his extradition from Spain to face U.S. tax evasion charges, officials said.
Wow I had no idea!

...Wow...I've used his antivirus software...I never liked it because it would try to take over everything on my desktop...plus when you removed or deleted the program, it would always pop back up in one form or another.....but now I'm interested in who he was as a person...I guess I'll do a little research.

Someone who rode that fine line between genius and lunatic. Interesting guy to say the least.

You should appreciate this then!

There was actually a third-party utility that you needed to fully uninstall McAfee. His antivirus program had things in common with virus programs.

He was ousted from his company in the early 90s. Before Windows 95 if I remembering correctly.

That early. He had a bizarre life. He got rich off an antivirus program that was mediocre at best and quite invasive on systems. It did catch malware, so it was better than nothing, but a lot of other programs were better.

There were a few years in the 90's where it was the best on the market, tbh...right around the time Norton started to turn into bloatware.
