Listening to Jerry's press conference, when he made comment of “ We need Charles Haley here … “

First thing that came to my mind without Jerry mentioning another name was " Hmmm, ..Is he really calling out DeMarcus Lawrence ?.."

There isn't any secret that the Cowboys re-signed and awarded DLaw with that huge 100+ million dollar contract because they thought he was the Charles Haley factor ..the War Daddy,..the guy that opposing teams had to scheme and account for before the ball was snapped.

I tend to believe that if Dlaw comes out with another 4-5 sack season in '21, could the Cowboys begin to consider moving away from him, and that big contract, in the very near future ?

Among the highest paid defensive players in NFL, he's being paid 17m this year in 2021, and 19m in '22,... and 21m in '23.

The" dead money" cap hit from cutting Dlaw is 19m, and 11 m ..respectively in the next consecutive years.

D-Law is another overrated and overpaid bum!
GM Jerry making his moves baby!!

He is due 19 million in base salary next year. That is the number you need to pay attention to. The lost money is lost money. Can you really afford to spend another 19 million for one more year at his current level? Jerry will happily shell out another 19 million so sadly we will be stuck with him and his insane contract for 2 more years.

oh like the way edge rusher Chandler Jones has very good players around him in the front seven in Arizona ..?
I don't know him but did you just give a single example?

And I suppose only Too Tall comprised all of Doomsday, eh?

Charles Haley didn't have anybody either.

Okay...fine ....how about this...MOST? MANY?

Maybe since I don't know Jones or the Arizona defense...I have misunderstood your point. Yeah....surely.

DLaw is the worst contract on the team - he has not lived up to anything near what he is getting paid

D-Law, Dak, Zeke, Coop, Jaylon, and a massive chunk for the offline and in the end .500 ball at best is the end result!

D Law is a 10 to 12 million dollar guy. He is a great player. He had one year, his contract year, where he played at a level that is close to a 20 million dollar per year stud level. One year. And we have been paying for it ever since.

DLaw was placed on the PUP list. Not a great way to start off the third year of that contract he has yet to live up to. If he doesn’t have a big year the Cowboys are going to be looking to move on from him and his over paid contract. At some point he’s going to be asked to take a pay cut if his sack totals don’t increase. Pressures don’t get it done these days, you have to get the QB on the ground or they’ll extend a play and make a play.

He could've been referring to his leadership abilities. Like smashing the locker room wall after a loss.
Or maybe he's saying we need somebody to whip their junk out and flop it on the desk during meetings

Give me Russell Maryland, Tony Casillas, Chad Hennings, and Leon Lett and I can get Lawrence back into the double digit sacks.

You have to get pressure up the middle for your defensive ends to get sacks. I would have liked to trade with Chicago and drafted Barrymore but I'm hoping Parsons can provide that pressure up the middle.
..good points. I thought the same. Dlaw suffers on the outside, cause you have no push from the inside. Been like that for years.

Irrevelent who I like and don't like as I answer only to the glory of the STAR.
So far that glory can be found from videos from a long time ago in another Cowboy galaxy!

Jerry doesn't call out players. His comment has nothing to do with anyone on this team.

We have not won anything of substance since he was around slapping people with his dong.

Coincidence? I think not.

Lol You could be right. Have you read "Boys Will Be Boys: The Glory Days and Party Nights of the Dallas Cowboys?"

It's been awhile since read it, probably around 2009 or so, but from what I remember, 80's rock stars didn't have nothing on them. They made the North Dallas Forty players look like choir boys. Jimmy was the type of coach that if you did your job on gameday he didn't care what you did on the other days. Jerry would pick up the tab for everyone at every bar they partied at. And I mean EVERYONE! He picked up the tab for media personnel dinning with them. He treated everyone to a good time. I guess that's why we never heard about these things until the trials started.
