News: ITS: Blake Jarwin a Participant in Team Drills as Cowboys Training Camp Opens

I was shocked when I didn't hear his name on the PUP.
This is very good news. Looking forward to the competition between Jarwin and Schultz in TC. Not that it matters, as both will see plenty of game day action.

What a change from a year ago where a lot of posts said we had nothing a TE. If I didn't know better, I might conclude it's due to actually giving guys a chance on the field before deciding they are trash. Forgive me, I get crazy thoughts sometimes.

Perfect post.

I prefer Schultz actually since he's a more complete player and we have enough playmakers at WR.

This team has a tradition of great Tight Ends. I like Jarwin and Schultz and hope one of them can be pro bowl level soon.

Just hold on for a minute hoss ...... let’s see how many TD’s our TE’s have this season. Betcha Pitts has more than ours combined.

After watching my replacement put up top 5 stats with backup QB's who were year less than a year i'd make darn sure i was out there asap too.

Well he's going to have more than all our pass catchers combined so I was just talkin' normal human TE's.

They are still easing Jarwin back into practice. Dalton Schultz is taking full advantage of Jarwin not participating in 7 on 7 drills.

Pitts is without a doubt going to be a better TE, but he is not on the cowboys. The benefit that the cowboys TE's have is Cooper, Lamb, Gaullup and Zeke. There is a chance Jarwin has huge plays and huge numbers because of this.

it is going to be fun to watch

I think you will see both around 40 catches this year. In regard to Shultz that doesnt mean "less effective", but it's a WR driven offense and if the OL stays healthy we probably wont feature the TE much. Shultz is a quality in line blocker, so I think you will see him get an extension. Even if Im right and he isnt catching 60 passes again, its nice to know we have a guy we can lean in for that if attrition sets in

Im thinking that Shultz is the better overall TE. He also has a leg up in Moore's system and the confidence of Dak. Jarwin doesnt offer much as a blocker in the run game which will probably limit his usage compared to Shultz.

I will take that bet. I dont see the TE's getting that many more catches in this offense. Shultz had 63 catches last year. I say Shultz gets around 50 with Jarwin in the 20's. Barring an injury to Shultz.

I will, once again, predict that Jarwin doesn't make it out if September.

Jarwin plays great against the Giants. :muttley: Seems average against other teams.
I think Schultz ends up with more playing time also. He played well last year in spite of all the back up QB's. So with Dak, he should prosper. I think Jarwin will also, but as you said, Schultz has the leg up right now.
