too early for him to take snaps at center, unless the plan is to have him as back up center and when biadasz is taking a break....Throughout the offseason for the Cowboys, starting Guard Connor Williams has been getting some looks at center. What does this mean for projected starter Tyler Biadasz and could a change be brewing at the position for 2021?
Williams saw reps at center came during the spring practices and again during these first few days of training camp. But according to Mike McCarthy, Connor’s only being evaluated as a potential backup.

Like flexibilityThat leads me to believe they plan to go light on gameday with OL, or go 2 OT and swing OG with CWill being the center if needed.
Hopefully this means Conner Williams isn't starting.....
Is it possible McGovern could be thought of as real competition for Williams at LG?This is a joke. Conner Williams is not competing with Tyler Biadasz for the starting Center position. Williams is the starting left guard. Conner is getting reps at Training Camp because Biadasz can't possibly make all the snaps just like Dak can't make all the passes.
But typically they don't look to a starter at one position to be the backup because if needed it means they would have to use backups at 2 positions instead of 1.This is not a big deal. The Cowboys need a backup center and they are trying Williams out to see if he can do it. They need depth at the position.

i'd have to see it to believe it.
i merely took the Williams to center news as injury emergency purposes.
Should Tyler get dinged, then Williams moves over to center, while a McGovern or Knight fills in at LG.
One thought definitely came to my mind, is OL coach Joe Philibin does not care to try McGovern at center at all.
And it maybe just me, but i really believe that if not for the massive injury hits
and RT struggles that forced Martin outside, McGovern would've never hit the playing field under Philibin.
That's just the impression i got last year.

Yeah I think Connor will demand just high enough of a price to where cowboys have to let him walk, especially since they already have 3 of their o-line starters on high dollar deals (I don't think they add a 4th deal, especially with Williams injury history). As he leaves in free agency after this season…
I wouldn't make that bet. I could see him being Ron Leary 2.0 (Team overpays in free agency for an injury prone guard mostly because the guard played for a well known team and a well known o-line unit)$100 bucks says Connor Williams will be here next year. Wanna bet?
