How do you think the new rule will affect the current Cowboy CBs and safeties? 300+ pounds barreling down on 190 pounds and that DB might be making a business decision.

Will the Cowboy OL be able to take advantage? Might be seeing more screens and run plays to the perimeter. Will this benefit Elliott and Pollard getting better blocks?

Maybe someone can find video of the penalty in the Chiefs 49ers game.

Former NFL player Tim Ryan, calling the TV broadcast of the game, noted that for a smaller defensive back trying to take on a bigger offensive lineman, making it illegal to go low makes it incredibly difficult to beat the block.

“This is gonna change the perimeter run game and the screen game,” Ryan said. “Last year that wasn’t a penalty. This year it is. . . . Get out of the way or get knocked out.”

As former NFL referee Terry McAulay wrote on Twitter of a defensive back’s dilemma if he can’t go low on a much bigger offensive lineman, “Not sure what he is supposed to do.”

This does wonders for a guy like Connor who is athletic/mobile but can be beaten by bigger guys. Start using him to pull a lot and maybe he will look better out there.

But yeah, it's getting to the point where there is no reason to play defense. Just go out there and we can watch the QB's and receivers play catch for 3 hours.

I could see a big push back towards a major running attack with this new rule in place. About the only chance he has is to turn his back to the play just before contact and get plowed over form behind to hopefully draw a flag.

This is where the coaches come in. Teach some blocking techniques using leverage. They can't go low, but how low. Is this a judgement call that will screw a lot of plays. Is it the waist, the knees?

Anyway, teach them to block high, use leverage even if just enough to hold them up from making their blocks.

Might as well just not have a defense out there anymore, so we can call every single, scrub modern-day QB better than Marino and Elway….

Just put some tackling sleds out there. Have them moved around with levers. You know, like the old hockey game where you moved them by sliding the sticks. :muttley:
Jaylon won't like the sled idea, but he will need to learn. :lmao2:

Most fans probably never even heard of the rule. They will when it is a 3rd and short with the game on the line and their team makes a stop only to see a flag on a DB going low while being blocked by a 300 pound OL.

Someone ask McCarthy and Quinn if they are teaching this. :)
Yep....because you know some OC is going to take advantage of this.....McVey will for sure.
