Cooper and the road curse, but not in Florida

We've been hearing for the last couple of years how Amari Cooper "disappears" in games on the road.. I have always maintained that it has been more about cold weather games than road games with him... That got me thinking.. Coop is from Miami, so how has he done playing in his home state over the course of his career. Though there is not a lot of data to go on it did yield some interesting results.

in 2016 @ JAX he only had 4 catches for 29 yards but the Raiders won 33-16 having jumped out to a big lead and really just handed the ball off most of the second half.
The very next game @ Tampa he had 12 catches for 173 yards and a TD.. Oakland won that one 30-24.
In 2017 @ Miami he had 4 catches for 58 yards in another win. 27-24

So that make shim 3-0 in his home state as a pro with 20 catches for 260 yards and 1 TD... All three of those teams play on grass and in warm weather .. making things easier on his aching foots.. So I am now expecting Coop to eat in this game.. He'll probably have a slew of family and home boys in the stands..

I like Cooper in this game because I think Tampa's corners are low key trash.

Indeed it does.. I don't think the kids will be able to hold up all game against that front so it's key to get Dak on the move early so as to not have him be a sitting duck. The last time Coop went to Tampa he had one of the 10 best games of his career.. so there's that..

Not for nothing, but he was on the losing side in 2018 at Miami as part of the Raiders team.

2 receptions for 17 yards. Gave up on a long route(triple covered lol) that gave Xavien Howard a gimmie INT

With all 3 main receivers healthy, plus Jarwin, Zeke and Pollard, I tend to clarify by saying Amari might "eat", but whether or not he does will come down to how much the Cowboys can run the ball and who does Tampa cover with their best corner or a corner and safety help over the top.

If Amari gets the best corner/safety help defense, Dak will go to Lamb or Gallup and Amari simply won't get many balls thrown his way thus limiting his chances to "eat".

But could go either way I certainly can see Amari having a big game (if the Cowboys do have a good game overall)...

schultz, please stop shoving him aside, he will be more important to this game then Jarwin..Jarwins a route runner , we will need help top the OL before TEs can go out in routes..stop thinking big plays first ,m cant happen unless the OL gives dak time..

We'll see who gets more passes/looks this game, Jarwin or Schultz (if either does). Since Jarwin is more of a big receiver than tight end, and as you noted isn't that great of a blocker, that means he is more likely imho to be more involved in the passing game, again if either does, and in this game.

Wasn't making a blanket statement that Jarwin is the cat's pajamas as a tight end or dissing Jarwin, you note I included him in with Pollard and Zeke, both of which, again imho, are likely to get passes thrown their way if the Tampa pass rush won't allow long throws to the wide receivers...

Thanks.. no idea how I missed that one.. But in fairness that was the year Gruden was trying to run all the good players out of town.. As such he had probably already gotten Coop to check out on that team..
