1. Dak was great. He wasn't rusty. He didn't look injured. He impressed the heck out of me and I think the team is in great hands with him at QB.

2. The O-Line played MUCH better than expected without Martin.

3. Zeke was a non factor. I didn't expect to do much in the run game, but I expected more than what we did. He still looks slow and stuck in the mud, but hopefully that was more of the Bucs run D than our running game.

4. The defense was better, not great, but better. They held up great in the run game and was even able to force a few turnovers which was a great sight to see.

5. Micah looked like a rookie, but he's only going to get better. This was his first game game in a long time, so he's only going to get better as the season goes on.

6. We have the best WR group on the NFL. Cooper was just outstanding and showed that he is a top receiver in the league. Gallup played as expected. He made his catches when they came his way. CeeDee made the most mistakes but he still had a great game overall.

7. Diggs took Evans out of the game. Evans was nonexistent all game. I think we have a legit shut down corner with him.

8. Anthony Brown. My Goodness. He was by far the worst player on the field for either team. He gave up play after play and seemed like anytime the Bucs caught a big pass Brown was the guy that gave it up.

9. The refs. I can't be THAT upset with them. I thought it was an overall good called game. I hate that PI that didn't get called, but we also got some calls go our way that probably didn't have to be called. So it even out in the end, even though not all penalties are created equal.

10. The D-Line doesn't get enough pressure. Brady was getting rid of the ball quickly, but on the plays that he wasn't we didn't get enough pressure on him. That has got to improve and it might just be a product of the Bucs good O-Line.

11. Greg the Leg could be a problem. He can't be trusted. Yeah, he made the kick at the end, but that missed extra point and FG in the first half was the difference in a win and a loss. The FO should seriously be considering bringing in another kicker.

12. Kellen Moore. I thought for the most part the coaches had a good game plan. I HOPE Kellen Moore doesn't decide to throw the ball like that every game, but I believe all those pass plays was the result of not having much success with the run game rather than him just wanting to be pass happy. We'll see.

13. McCarthy. Please don't try and 60 yard field goal again with time left on the clock. That could have been bad. It wasn't, but it easily could have been. Be smarter.

Overall, I believe we showed that we can compete with the best in the league. It came down to the wire and we stood toe to toe with the champs. They had all 22 starters from the Super Bowl back and we gave them all they could handle. It was Week 1 with most of our guys playing no preseason at all. We're only going to get better from here. That game should give anyone optimism going forward. We have a lot to work with here and I see this, barring injury, being a great season for us.

Overall the final preseason game last night (against the Bucs) was a great "dress rehearsal" for us... The offense played together for the first time, established some chemistry, and scored some points. The defense played and subbed just about everyone and were able to practice creating turnovers... Coaches practiced some play calling and situation football... Now on with the "16 game season" beginning next week against the Chargers...

Totally agree, except the part about Zeke. I thought he looked great in the limited touches. He showed some good shift and wiggle and that ability to push thru for a clutch first down were all there.

Good post agree with most of it...Zeke problem had more to do with chances I think..He was completley dialed in though he blocked great and did not lose focus from limited touches...KM and MM need to fix that though, 50 passes a game is not a good plan. AB..my god we need tp let the rookies play, Ill take a missed assignment for the chance of a play...Our AB had no chance to do anything except watch the reciever go off all night.

Same here it was a pretty good summation except about Zeke. He did not look like he was running in mud.

Pretty spot on. I think Zeke issue was the BUCS defense. They got a lot of push up the middle and their LBs are fast so it takes outsides runs away.
Williams by far was the weak link. Vea pushed both him and Biadasz backward often.
Zeke was really good in picking up rushers and blocking, that allowed us to send multiple receivers in routes.
I think Moore made a few crucial.mistakes in the game that contributed to the loss. He is still learning and doesn't seem to have a plan in mind when he is calling plays in different series....not sure how much he is learning from his mistakes

Agreed.

We have a lot of room for improvement everywhere and that's encouraging.

Zeke has some terrific blocks and great effort on a short yardage 1st down. Getting tackled in a one-on-one matchup when Jarwin missed the block was my only complaint with regards to Zeke.

Parsons was good. Quinn is going to continue to have him play a "run defense first" mentality which is the reason for "biting" on some play fakes.
- The middle-field coverage was often good but Brady threads the needle.
- Many QBs would NOT even throw into some of those coverages but with Brady a defender can't be 1 foot off from the perfect position or it will be a completion.

CB Brown must play better. WR Brown beat him mentally, not physically. CB Brown "bit" on the subtle fakes by WR Brown.
- The coaches kept rolling the FS to the side with 2 WRs which was generally the side opposite CB Brown on those plays he gave up to WR Brown.

Greg the gimpy Leg. I want to see him next game on artificial turf.
- The Bucs stadium (Raymond James) has natural grass. Some kickers struggle on natural grass.
- It was the worst case for GZ coming back from surgery and the minimal practice off-season.
- Sofi (Chargers) stadium has the same artificial turf as Jerry World.

Pressure. The long pass to WR Brown is the main play there was time for pressure but they let Brady step up and have a clean path to launch the ball.
- The DTs each rushed away from the Center and Brady just stepped up into zero pressure with literally a completely open field in front of him.
- Otherwise opportunities for pressure were very limited.
- Armstrong did make a great play when he hit Brady's arm but somehow Brady managed to hold on to it.
- If anything, against Brady it might have been better to drop an extra defender into coverage more often.
- They had success when they did that. The announcers joked that the Cowboys played "cover 9" at one point referring to 9 players in coverage.

I think Moore called a good game. But when players don't execute it looks poor on him......to me the Zeke play was a good play if Jarwin makes the block he's suppose to make. For whatever reason they just look weird and hesitant in the red zone and I'm not sure why.

Z is taking a lot of heat for his misses, but he made 3 of 5. So while it looks like he lost the game on paper, he actually kept us in the game with his nine points. Two of his kicks gave us the lead....the 35 yarder in the first half where we went up 16-13, and the 48 yarder to make it 29-28 in the fourth. The 21 yarder pulled us to within 19-21 in the third.

We put up points on 2 of the 3 Tampa Bay turnovers in the first half. The Diggs pick led to a Cooper TD. And the Gregory fumble recovery to the 35 yard kick by Z. So three Tampa Bay turnovers led to 9 points (and we still went in the half down 21-16).

I'm old school. Keep them honest. You force them respect the run. Seemed silly to go into the season claiming to have the best back in the league and giving him 3 touches in the first half? Maybe Moore thought he could break TB back by matching him pass for pass. That kinda ego has a tendency to bite in the butt down the line.

But it was a good game. Solid start. Enjoyable game to watch. We had our chances, it just wasn't out day to come out on top.
