Can we all agree that this years team is not like last years team?

1 game in they do look different, however, we still found a way to loose. Give it another few games and I think we will know who we really are.

for sure.
this is a good,young team.
we should win our division and make the post season.

but if we want to advance...we gotta score more in the red zone and when the clock is tickin down....we gotta close it out on defense.

but no doubt.
this is a better team.

we need to fix the ground game.

it was bad last year.

worse this season.

they make zero effort to run.

They are a much better defense, and the online is much better as well.

The whole team looked well coached and ready. Nothing like last years disaster.

So yes, I agree.

to be fair, they played their dime package most of the game.

Id like to think so...

but we already lost galllup and collins for 4-5 games,

its beginning. Last year the rams game 1 we looked good and solid injuries started and then it just started going bad..should ahve won that game a bad call may have cost us that one as well..

case in point i was jacked up after game 1 of my Longhorns, I was thinking man new coach and player this team looks great game 1

Laid a giant dinosaur egg yesterday against non ranked Arkansas team.......

UGHHH!! :banghead::mad:

I'd like to think we're a better team. Too early to tell yet, in my opinion. While it looked like the defense was better, they still gave up over 30 points. I realize who they were playing but still. Points matter more than anything else. I don't care how many turnovers, yards, or sacks, etc.... they make the game entertaining but, it all comes down to points. Can't give up 30+ points & expect to win.

I thought Dak looked pretty good considering his circumstances. Receivers tighten up a bit, & the passing game is gonna be tough. Although, the offense was playing the same song that's doomed us for years. Lack of TD's in the red zone. Not finishing drives with touchdowns. Settling for FG's, or FG attempts. Not gonna beat solid teams like that, unless other aspects of the team play out of their minds.

I'm cautiously optimistic but, wanna see a couple more games before I get excited about this years team. History has made me that way....

I'd like to agree, but in my view we lost this game for the same reasons we lost last year.

1. Gave up a 47 yard TD pass, and almost a 2nd one. We gave up the 4th most TD passes of 20+ yards last year.
2. Gave up 3 red zone TDs and a game-winning FG (and if not for a great play to cause a fumble we would have given up a 4th red zone TD).
3. Offense got 1 red zone TD in 4 trips
4. Special team's play cost us points 4 points and we lost by 2 points.

This is all the same crap that caused us to lose last year, even when Dak when playing. So yes, the O-line looked more secure (will it with Collins out?), and the run defense was okay on 14 attempts, but I wouldn't say that we have resolved the issues we need to in order to do something this year.

People have to consider that teams have an 80% chance to win with a +1 turnover differential and we had a +2 (not counting the hail mary) and we still lost. We still have problems.

running the football more will help.

Yeah....very disappointing Texas loss. Can't imagine what it's going to be like once they join the SEC. God help us!! LOL

This team will compete for the right to go to the super bowl if we stay healthy.
In the NFL you will not stay healthy. No team does. The teams that compete have reliable players. They have depth. We will always have a suspension and an injury and it is viewed as an acceptable excuse. The if we stay healthy mantra is loser talk.

I have yet to see this improved defense so until I do, it is not better than last year's team. It is only better right now because they have the QB1 playing.

Poor pass rush and a mediocre secondary and I do not know if the run D improved because they didn't bother to test it with their QB throwing 4 TD passes.

And I sincerely hope that "tag team" LB experiment is over.

I was not a fan of it, I also did not see a great run stuffing D, I did see pass rush against the best ever QB at not getting sacked...Maybe i was watching the wrong game. I saw an easy whole in the D where ever #30 lined up and I also saw big run up the middle, and huge mismatches on zone blitz in red zone situations...i do however think it is all fixable moving forward with some tweaks and maybe the othe teams O had a little to do with some of it.
