I don't usually push conspiracy theories, but tell me this doesn't sound suspect (especially following the unfounded basis for Zeke's suspension)... I did find it interesting that the suspension includes the NY giants game:

There is simply no language in the new substance-abuse policy that says seven failures to appear or seven failures to cooperate equate to suspension.

There are some blurred lines in the new CBA rules related to the NFL's substance-abuse policy, and La'el Collins clearly believes he's been victimized by the blur.

Victim so tied of hearing that, would you miss 1 making that kind of $? The only thing he’s a victim of is his own stupidity.

Here's what's annoying about how news is reported.

The NFL suspended a player.
The talking heads report it to the fans.
Nobody knows the details.
Info leaks out bit by bit.
Everyone rushes to conclusions.

WHY does the NFL withhold the details!?!
They have an entire network specifically for their league.

Wouldn't the Bucs be more of a threat to us than the Giants? WTH does the Giants game have to do with anything? Oh wait, the Mara CONSPIRACY! I lose track.

Because their lawyers say they have to limit liability in case a player sues about violating privacy.

The fact that the players union and the team allows this to happen is ridiculous. Cash is king though.

Still that much testing is not done unless there are infractions or suspicions! Something is not clear.
That testing goes back till last year
Missing tests means they schedule another test, thus so many

Collins is a bum. The fact that this organization puts up with this behavior behind the scenes tells you why they cant get over the hump.

This guy is always hurt and missing entire seasons and now that he is semi healthy he gets suspended for 5 games.

Can you be a worse teammate than to just blow off your responsibilities like this?

Knowing that he was in this position they should have moved him in the offseason. I would move him for picks the minute he is eligible to play again.

Quincy Carter went into the program and was tested all the time, he was told by Parcells if you fail a test and get suspended it means we cant rely on you and you will be cut....he did and he was cut. I have no idea why they let collins pull this stuff when he has not been a reliable player because of injury already.

The issue is not what Collins did or didn't do. It is the fact that Goodell makes up the punishments at his discretion. There is no consistency in how he doles out his suspensions and nothing is documented.

The NFLPA and the owners have given this power to Goodell and there is nothing Jerry can do about it. It is impossible to know if this punishment is fair or not because a lot of information is not disclosed. Why was Collins tested 10x a month? Are other players also tested 10x a month for the same reason? Are there other players that have missed 7 tests that have not been suspended?

Based on what we have seen in the past there is no reason to think Goodell will be "fair". He one person with almost absolute power that is charged with enforcing a bunch of subjective rules. I think it is naïve to think Goodell is going to apply the rules to all teams consistently and objectively.
