NOt really if they push hard on appeal

maybe time served for one game and sentence lifted would suffice as punishment's enough!
There IS the element of how ugly things got during the Elliott appeal.

We went something like 7-8 games without a holding penalty on an opponent.

Nevermind what else probably happened behind the scenes.

That situation was much, much more unfair than this...we just have recency bias.

Besides, Elliott was the most important guy on that team....or top 3 anyway.

Collins will be missed but not as much as the 2017 team was affected by the situation.

It ruined the season IMO. Should have been no suspension, a game or two the most.

well, he missed at least 7 tests that we know of per reports..
yes and everyone had an excused absence..

surgery
funeral
facilities closed for c19
players sent home
rehab appointment for his surgery
he was on c19 cv list

and other times he simply couldn't make it yet all and that 100% of all his tests when he took them were a PAS id say his punishment is absolutely unfair..1-2 games to make a point sure , 5 is stupid..dude getting punished like soem of the more severe criminals suspensions come for this NFW!!

I think this is BS from the league and Goodell, who clearly is biased against the Cowboys. But this tweet only explains 2 missed tests, of 7. And it does not say if Collins informed the league he would be unavailable for testing or if he had to notify them in advance. Collins still shares some of the blame. Does it deserve 5 games? Of course not. No one in the NFL has gotten that many games that I know of. It reminds me of when Michael Irvin was suspended for one more game that every other player so he would miss the game against the Eagles.

BTW, not to start another argument but under the above tweet I saw this one. It should settle the argument about whether or not Davonte David removing his helmet and slamming it to the ground should have been a penalty or not.

You are acting as if these tests are scheduled. They are not. It's not like he can look at the calendar and say, oh, I have a piss test today...

They are random.
Random how?

They find him and say piss now?

If so how did he miss it?

It's not random in that regard. He is told where to be and when with reasonable notice.

It's THAT frequent with him because of the previous fail/misses.....so they all knew they were on the cusp of suspension, then took a pass on showing up figuring McCarthy decision to close the building prevailed over league policy.

I could be wrong but I believe they are given a time frame of when they could be tested in the off-season due to logistics (but can be tested at anytime within that time frame).

That was my understanding for the normal tests that they typically know when they are tested. But once in the protocol I was curious if it is more random.

If they know then it's on Collins to find out what he is supposed to do when these issues come up.

If it's random then the NFL is aware he was sent home, given the day off etc and shouldn't count these against him.

well, he missed at least 7 tests that we know of per reports..

Sounds like the entire reason he popped dirty to enter the program was because of a post surgery script.

The league counted a positive test after he was sent home when a coach passed away. Then another for his family's funeral.

It's BS PERIOD.

And there's been reporting that when he did arrive for testing, he was uncooperative and threatened to throw urine in the face of those administrating the tests. now I don't know if that's true but something serious happened to garner 5 game suspension from the league

You're right.

All legit reasons.

Why didn't the agent or team work to get them formally excused when they happened a year ago?

Instead he was left with no room for error.

It couldn't have been unknown. No chance.

The fails are the reason for that many tests.

Seems like he has some legitimate excuses for missing 3 tests, but per reports he has missed 7 tests...what about the other 4? For all we know the other 4 tests are the reason he got suspended. You can't miss tests it's part of the CBA

Micheal 88 said its random and he has never seen them be ok with not getting the sample...he said they would hunt you down and not leave until they got it....he was shocked they allowed 7 missed tests. He also said in his day they would've done something about 1 missed test because they count it failed until proven otherwise within 24 to 48 hours.

that's what his agent says.....be wary what his agent says, his job is protect his client and prone to spin things in his favor.....the truth will come out and I think there's more than missing 7 tests...

More to his suspension than his agent is giving you...you're only getting one part of the whole story, the part his agent want to try to spin!

Yeah and the league office has never spun things they have done…….. LOL.

It’s not that.

It’s that they basically made up a punishment for him and he passed a million other tests for a substance that isn’t even banned anymore by them.

Part of this is on Dallas too for sending players home and not being clear to him that he still had to test.

Is he a child? Stop it.

A missed test is a failed test. He missed 7. Stop w the nonsense.

Is it? The Twitter post to start this thread says a missed test can’t be punished with a suspension.

So what’s the rule?

John Mara is in the league’s ear … he was heavily involved w Zeke …

Jerry doesn’t have a friend in the world …

Do you know when the Jerry witch hunting started ?

Do you ?

I’ll tell yuk when ….

Miles Austin contract during the lockout - a pack of Mara led owners charged JJ with circumvention of the cap …

Why do you think Dez dropped it ?

Started before that, I think. When Jerry sued the league to not share certain revenue, many smaller market teams were - and still are - peaved. Then Mara, who was a beneficiary of Jerry's slickness, got his panties in a bunch.

I don't think so...are you?

So it's all black and white...plus you know the details of the players agreement?

"Extenuating circumstances" versus "full extent of the law" or even "make it up as you go".

Be careful on that horse....it's pretty high. You also might pull a muscle in your attempt to be some kind of objective objector. .

There is no rule for missed tests, thats why Irvin was so suprised...they should've handled this at 1.
