Our only shot at Gilmore was in a trade as a 1 year rental. . . Gilmore is gonna want multiple years and the Boys can't provide that

Not true. Season has started already. Players and agents know that teams that are contenders for a Super Bowl only have limited cap space at this time of the season. Players like Gilmore will look for an opportunity to contend for a Super Bowl and earn their next contract on a winner. Some place where he can make a difference and its glaringly visible. Look at what Sherman just did.

If there is a place that glaringly has a need, and is a contender......Dallas is just that. Gilmore comes across as someone that wants to be in the spotlight. Dallas is the place to be. Everyone is watching them now. If he wants to be noticed and win. Make a difference on a D that can make them great. Dallas is that.

Dont forget the rework of contracts done at the beginning of the season where it was voiced that the cap space could be used this season on the right part made available or rolled into next seasons cap!!!! Well the right piece became available and all it costs is money!!!!! Get it done.

Problem with some Cowboy fans are exactly comments as such. People comparing what transpired with Smith as a precursor to what will happen with Lawrence. People dont get how important it is to have DLaw in the lineup every game. He helps the D in so many ways and he is unreplaceable. He is actually the piece this D needs right now to make this team take the next step. His demand of double teams and ability to be an excellent run stopper as a DE is something that this team is needing right now.

With Parsons and Gregory being able to get after the QB now, offences can no long double team DLaw alone. So yes maybe DLaw is getting paid to sack a QB but up to now its been him and only him on the D side of the ball that was a threat. Today and so far this season, the defensive scheme and players brought in will open things up to Lawrence to not only do the things he does extremely well already but also get back to getting at the QB for sacks.

I just find it funny that some put him and Smith in the same category of overpaid. DLaw has tremendous value even if he doesnt get at QB. But in time when hes back fans like these will see what this scheme will do for the stats that they are only looking for.

Don't worry, for the moment DLaw's position is quite safe, as you say he can at least play the position and certainly allows others to rush and is good against the run, whereas poor Jaylon was struggling.

Fan's will view DLaw as expendable as they see Micah as a DE.....at the moment we can incorporate both with DLAW the rock in left (Gregory from the right) and Micah, the silent assassin, coming from wherever he wants.

We've complained for so long about lack of pass-rushers.....now we're blessed.

As many have pointed out between J. Smith's poor play and the other players stepping up and his contract, Dallas didn't want to be on the hook to pay guaranteed money to Smith next season if he got hurt.

That said, I hope this sends a message to some of the overpaid veterans who aren't living up to their contracts (DLaw, Collins)
The way we are playing now I would rather sign Gregory to a less money shorter deal and dump D-Law but we can’t because of his contract. The list of players up for contract next year that is contributing now is long. We lose Gallup. I am convinced. Neal is up Williams is up Gregory is up. I hope to have another awesome draft but looks like we will be drafting late. I hope last.

I would LOVE to know what the final straw actually was.

Was it Quinn finally stepping up and saying, "look this guy is a liability out there?"

Still, given the guaranteed salary I may have kept him around, but if you take a closer look, we are going to have roster numbers problems coming up soon.

Still, I'm really surprised at this.

I think he goes to the Gents with the injury to Martinez. Good luck tackling Zeke! Lol

Yep with the guaranteed salary, I am scratching my head.

I dont think you get to break the huddle pregame if you don't have some leadership qualities. Jaylon has a magnetic personality that I'm sure drew teammates in. I don't think his brothers in arms feel anything like we do about him. Although it's hard to imagine they aren't aware of his limitations.

We can disagree on that. I think his antics ran its course. I think he jumped around like the lead dog, but people rolled their eyes at him.

Given this guys story, he should have become one of the biggest fan favorites.

Instead, he somehow became someone many couldnt stand.

He became a very rich man when his situation once looked very dire courtesy of our wonderful GM.

Tough to feel bad for the guy in that case..

I'd advise him that telling yourself and the rest of the listening world you're a good player doesn't make it so.

Just look at the tape!

Speculation is that they cut him to reduce their losses. Had he gotten injured this season they would be on the hook for about 9 million next season as well. Instead cutting him now leads to a little over 2 million in savings. He won't be starving.

Board.....we need a new Fall Guy nominee.

On the plus side, you'll have a whole lot more time on your hands not rushing to defend him anymore.
