no and no.
Gallup probably has little trade value. was injured. has about 8 games or so left after his return. and is a FA next year, will be asking for a lot of money and is not a #1 WR....so what can you get in return, compared to let him walk, sign a large contract and probably end up with a 3rd round pick for compensation.
so if we let collins walk, who is the back up swing tackle? in a season with this type of success, do you want to risk it for a pick next year or do you want to make a run? steele is the swing tackle and as well as he has played, Collins is better.
so no trade for either of them because neither would help us this year, in fact I rather have both and make a run and be as deep as possible in case of injuries, than trade them for mid round picks.....
I never understand the desire to trade depth during a season, especially when the team has a recent history of depth problems at some of the very same positions.
Say that Collins gets traded and a game later Steele gets injured and out for the year. That would leave Ty Nsekhe, who looked kind of done in the preseason and Josh Ball who is completely unproven. Seems a risk you would take in the offseason.
I agree on the SB run, Arizona and Baltimore would be a tough win with this current defense IMO and I would hate to look back and think we could of got defensive help with an aggressive trade. I am sure that is why the Jones family is burning the midnight oil scheming and such. You don't trade players who you need, even for depth, if you plan on a SB run.....and Dallas looks to be in the midst of making that type of run THIS year. They can compete against anyone.
who? who can give us a DL or CB worth their dollars for collins....this is not fantasy football
I guess you weren't around in the early 90's.They finally get good, so now we need to start trading players?
How about we win in January first.
I consider numerous factors when I think about. Including future cap room and needs and players who are likely player elsewhere next year anyway. And in this case, i understand where both sides are coming from.
Ummmmmm because he's freakin good that's why. What makes you think you could get a "really good player" or a "really high draft pick" for Gallup? There's no precedent that I can find for a team trading much for half a season of a #2 WR.
Collins could potentially bring a good return, but I think you're overrating Steele, underrating Collins, and massively overrating our swing tackle situation in the absence of Collins.
There is no way that would happen. Stop with the trade ideas. So what happens after Collins and Gallup come back? As good as Terrance Steel and Cedrick Wilson are playing right now the Cowboys might want to consider moving on from L'el Collins and Michael Gallup. You could get some really good players for these guys or even better a couple of really high draft picks. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Cowboys pull off a move for one or even both of these guys.
Exactly!Could see that.
It's a nice problem to have.
I can understand it eventually but when a position like offensive tackle was a huge problem for much of last year, I just cannot see the logic and immediately putting a position at risk when you already know it will negatively impact you should you lose one or two tackles.I consider numerous factors when I think about. I'll remember this post.I can't wait until November 2nd, 4:00 PM EST
The trade deadline will be over and we should not get these threads.
OK Mr. no imagination. There is no way that would happen. Stop with the trade ideas.
And Jimmy made moves to get better.Unless there is a godfather offer and Cowboys receive a impact starter in return I'd rather keep the depth for this postseason run.
Trading just to trade does not interest me.
Jimmy's teams were DEEP.
I'll remember this post.

yeah the arguments against are always a little myopic imo. I'm all for keeping who we have, but the arguments presented for it always seem to ignore what you'd be getting in return. no one is advocating cutting these guys lol, just thinking about how the team could potentially improve in other areas.
