So what happens after Collins and Gallup come back? As good as Terrance Steel and Cedrick Wilson are playing right now the Cowboys might want to consider moving on from L'el Collins and Michael Gallup. You could get some really good players for these guys or even better a couple of really high draft picks. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Cowboys pull off a move for one or even both of these guys.

This has been discussed several times and there are recent threads on this.

Why would want to trade away quality players when the team has put itself in a position to win the division and potentially make a deep playoff run? This is a time to keep quality talent.

Have you noticed how players can miss 1-2 weeks and not be injured? Depth can quickly disappear.

Clement and Turner are released....that wasn't too hard..

There's going to be a slew of moves during the bye week when most of the players injured are slated for return

If you can get value sure, but I think fans will overestimate what we can get. Collins missed all of last year with injury and started this year with a suspension. Oh yeah, he also comes with a major cap hit. Gallup is in his walk year, you may get more value out of the comp pick he provides.

I agree for the most part…the only exception would be a stupid good offer….everyone has a price

What makes you think you could get a "really good player" or a "really high draft pick" for Gallup? There's no precedent that I can find for a team trading much for half a season of a #2 WR.
Collins could potentially bring a good return, but I think you're overrating Steele, underrating Collins, and massively overrating our swing tackle situation in the absence of Collins.

I agree. I would be less likely to try to move Collins because depth at OL. As for Gallup I would not even take the call unless you had a 1st rd pick to offer up. I know people will say Gallup is not worth a #1 and I say he is to the Cowboys.

Gallup is going to net a third round comp pick if he walks in free agency. I'm not sure if they will get a better offer than that. Plus, there is always the chance they resign him.

Collins could find himself in Jaylon territory if he can't stay on the field. However, I think his cap hit (I'm no expert here) makes it so he really can't be released until 2023. The site I saw showed a $13 million cap hit next year if released. I just don't think Dallas can get value for him in a trade. If he can stay on the field then his best value is with Dallas.

Unless they somehow see Collins suspension as the sign of a lost cause, which I doubt very much, they have to keep him. Just too good a player, and we've seen in the past how lack of depth on the O-line can cause big problems. Steele has done a very good job filling in, but he is not as talented as Collins.

As for Gallup, he's in the last year of his contract, and Wilson can play, but again, depth is important to maintain. Like someone else said, if someone offered something big to trade I would consider it, but otherwise I believe we should keep Gallup.

Bottom line is we don't want to do anything that could sabotage what could shape up to be a very good season, and depth is almost always a factor in successful teams.

Trading away quality depth in the first half of an NFL season is so shortsighted.

All it takes is a Tyron back spasm or a pulled hamstring for CeeDee or Cooper and you’re going to see why it’s such a bad idea.

Imo if you serious about making a run, you keep both.

Dont know if one can be confident that Coop will stay healthy the rest of the season, and Steele is insurance if Tyron or Collins go down for any number of games.

Now if we were a barely a 10-7 team that most likely gets knocked out of the play-offs in the first round - then yes I look to trade Gallup.

Collins I dont know about.

WHY....WHY?. we need depth this year the way we are playing. So what happens if we trade LC, and Steele or Smith gets hurt then what..?.. or Gallup when Cooper is to banged up to play? I don't get our fans sometimes. As soon as guys start to play decent and pretty good we want to get rid of them or somebody then complain at lack of depth lol smdh

I never understand the desire to trade depth during a season, especially when the team has a recent history of depth problems at some of the very same positions.
