...lol...who the heck is the Lion? Did we pick him up somewhere?

It appears to be self given. Now normally I won't abide by a self given nickname. In Parsons case I'm allowing special privileges. He did come from Penn St.

He is not taking a pay cut. We are a much better team with Tank than without. The cap numbers can always show to cut a guy but you don't cut good players unless you have too. I don't get how so many on here don't see that Tank is still a good player. You can't only focus on sacks as he is a top DE against the run. Also, note that in the Charger game where Micah played entirely at DE he only played 55% of the snaps. So if you cut Tank you are also replacing him with an Armstrong/Anae type guy half the snaps. But, when your cap number is that high you need to be really, really good.

Cutting him after this year unless something changes drastically wouldn't be smart IMO. After 2022 could be a different discussion.
2022 cap hit $27M vs dead cap if cut $19M - not worth a $27M cap hit, but the difference isn't worth losing a good player (post 6/1 dead money split (22 -$8M; 23 -$11M). Save $19M 2022 but still $11M in dead money in 2023.
2023 cap hit $29M vs dead cap if cut $11M. Not worth a $29M cap hit. Could cut post 6/1 and split dead money $8M in 2023 (save $21M) and $3M in 2024. Now we are talking about a possible scenario.

The savings is worth it when you factor in all the players the Cowboys will need to sign.....Wilson, Gallup, Gregory, Neal, Kazee, Kearse, LVE (maybe)....there is a long list of players on 1yr deals......rather have 2-3 good players than one almost average often injured DLAW

DLAW Cap hit in 2022 is 27Mil....dead cap is only 19Mil good by DLAW

If you think you’re getting better for 8 million, you’re dreaming. Let him play next season on what will amount to a contract year.

for 27mil in 2022 and 29mil in 2023...what has the guy done....everyone says he is a great run stopper....I dont see that being the problem with defense this year....oh,,,bye the way...DLAW is collecting a paycheck at home riding the couch...injured....while this defense is playing lights out

Lets see how how or if he plays in 2021 than address DLAW contract in the offseason....he aint worth 27mil...

On 105.3 The FAN they said that D-Law's agent is a big talker, always talking to the media, apparently he is paranoid that D-Law is next on the cutting board.

Wasn't D-Law that stepped in and got the deal done directly with SJ? I’m sure D-Law would get in front of it before it happened imo.

I do not see Micah moving to DE full time at all. He’s the future at LB and will be used at times to rush the passer.

No he was the one telling the Jones he aint getting surgery until his contract is signed....DLAW played hard ball with Jones....now the table is flipped.

I understand but when the deal was at a stalemate I believe it was Tank who stepped in because of his agent.

I thought 11 was a monster second half Carolina game when he put pressure on Darnold. Against the Giants he wasn’t near the line chasing Jones or Glennon all afternoon and with a mediocre banged up O line Giants gave up zero sacks. It’s early but I think Parsons best route right now is a disrupter rather then a coverage guy.

I look for Dallas to take a DE next year. I'd draft defense again next season. Minus oline center. Parson will not be moved to DE.

With the upcoming free agents we have and how well our defense has played without him, I think he's gone. I don't think Parsons moves to defensive end. He just won't be able to hold up for a long time in my opinion. He's too undersized.

Does Stephen Jones hold grudges? Remember when Tank was strategic when scheduling his needed shoulder surgery until he got a new deal? I bet you Zoners the Joneses remember Tank's tactics very well.

Tank is still a really good player. Right now he's the 2nd best DE on the roster behind Randy in my opinion and the Lion is thisclose to being as effective as Tank.

The Lion should play more DE snaps than linebacker. With a full offseason of DE focus, strength/conditioning, and more tutelage from DeMarcus Ware, I can see Lion transitioning from MLB to full-time DE opposite Randy as early as next year.

Given what happened with Jaylon Smith, I bet Stephen is gonna approach Tank for a paycut. He will either accept it or be released. Especially if his broken foot doesn't fully heal and allow him to be the Tank that received a $105M contract.

I may be off here, but I felt the idea is worth discussing. In an ideal world, we keep Tank and continue to have Lion used all over the place as the ultimate defensive chess piece. But Stephen is shrewd with that cap which could make Tank a cap casualty. Everyone saw how good the Lion looked when asked to rush the passer when Randy and Tank were out.

Thoughts?

Parsons is 6'3" and 245 pounds. He's not going to be a full-time starting DE in the NFL.

He's a LB and a situational pass rusher.

One thing for sure is that Dlaw will be here this season for what we hope is a Super Bowl run…

So how much should he be making? Clark & Miller today aren't putting up big sack numbers either.

DeMarcus Lawrence $21.0
Frank Clark $20.8
Von Miller $19.083333
Trey Flowers $18.0
Cameron Jordan $17.5
Arik Armstead $17.0
Shaquil Barrett $17.0
