Not as Bullish on Dallas as I was a week ago

Human emotions are fickle things.

After the first 5 weeks, I was feeling very bullish about Dallas this season. After the win yesterday most seem to be praising Dallas for a gritty, come from behind, overcome adversity, beat the GOAT coach performance that ended decades of losses to the Pats.

This is all true.

But man, it should not be this hard. Dallas' offense stats are impressive. But some things really scratch at me from this weeks performance because while the gritty win might seem "different" (it actually reminds me a lot of the win in Pittsburgh in 2016) there are some things that seem all too familiar to many other years in our 25 year old drought.

1. We can't Qb sneak the ball. I'd like some stats on this, but it seems Dallas is the only team in the last 30 years who is pretty awfully ineffective at QB sneaks. We were terrible yesterday at this. Big strong QB, terrible at sneaks. I have no idea why. No idea.

2. Picking up 1 yard when necessary. We have perhaps the second most punishing back in the league (Henry?). Why can we not line up and pound it for a yard? We were terrible at this!

3. Linebackers. Our linebackers played like meh. The upgraded performance here was palpable in the first 5 weeks. Yesterday they couldn't make plays against a mediocre offense.

4. Defense overall. Gave up 4 touchdowns to a bottom tier offense. Could not make stops in the red zone. Gave up long plays all over the field (trend that was also there first 5 weeks).

Yes, it's just one game. Yes, sometimes you don't win the TO battle. But man, my spidey sense is not liking these characteristics because I've seen this script before too many times.

I hear what you mean about the mistakes. That’s the only thing keeping these opponents in the game.

One score was on a 30 yard drive, another was a one play drive. Other than that, when NE had to drive the ball, they had 2 scores all game. Find another team that can beat that.

Here we go.

Can you imagine the title of this post if we lost this game lol, I told you guys about 4 days ago - people on this board are going to freak out the next time we lose 1 game.

You can say that again! I'm not sure where these completely unrealistic expectations came from that the Cowboys are supposed to blow out everyone they play!! I mean 2 months ago some of these same people were saying this team was a 6-8 win team.

Given the mediocrity that is NE offensively right now until the rookie QB gets some better weapons McCarthy not punting and pinning down NE in that first series gave NE unbelievable field position . Of course I never expected them to cut Dallas defense like butter and McCarthy probably figured the worst that happens they kick a FG. Wrong.

We get it. There are 10x more posts on this board when the Cowboys lose than when the Cowboys win.

It's just a bunch of old boomers thinking what they say means something so they can get a reaction. Make their pathetic and meaningless lives matter by trolling an internet board and think they've done something to quicken themselves. Oh. It feels good. I really got them. Ha, Ha.

It doesn't. Doesn't mean anything. The only thing that matters is the Cowboys won. Just eat it.

Nobody give a rat's *** what you think.

Suck it.

Patriots are not a bad team. Average but not bad. Still have a great coaching staff and will be in every game they play in. Cowboys played their worst game and still pulled out a W on the road. That makes me more bullish. They are not going to be world beaters every week. Hell remember the 95 super bowl team lost twice that season to a bad Commanders team.

Dallas is more than fine.

Blaming the defense is silly. Offensive redzone execution was the problem and it impacted the defense.

It’s also a problem that our best pass rusher is trying to play linebacker and they have decided to make an elite pass rusher an average linebacker instead.

Sorry if you can’t see the difference between this team a most of the teams from the last 25 years or whatever it is then there is no help. This team is stacked at offence. Clean up the mistakes I doubt any team has as many horse as we do. We got 11 games to clean things up…we will win the division and win plenty of games, We are getting guys back.

you can peak too early. Buffalo might be peaking to early, same as Baltimore…but we got a ways to go before we peak…if we are continuing to be this sloppy in game 12 and later, then worry..

Maybe Mike Vick on the naked bootleg. Better yet see how running your QB in the red zone ended up in Giants land. He still thinks he’s a Duke Devil a week later. I can’t believe Judge threw him out to the Rams yesterday .

We have a history...2014...2016.....

We were going to KILL IT!

So we have to work a little bit...to put our skeptical hurt behind us. Do not be afraid. Cheer them on....get some mojo and bravado going!

If we fall on our face then we all fall together. Until then...jump on the wagon and ride on.,
I never got off the wagon. You jump on and off at will it seems.

100 yards in penalties . Ouch

Some of these flags are subjective. We don’t get the MOST penalties, but did you ever notice when most of them occur? Score a TD or big third down conversion? Holding, ten yards! Make a big stop on third down? Roughing the passer! I’m not saying it’s one thing or another—simply pointing out the “oddity”.

The OP has PTSD from all the years of mediocrity since 1996.

Be gentle with the OP. These fans are brittle and scared and not without reason.

A fan sharing his feelings rather than what he believes is just a wasted post. Get out of here with your emotions you girly man. I love a good opinion but check your emotions at the door, Nancy-man.

Pats had a TD called back for holding . Took a TD off the board would have made it 21-7 NE. Then Jones got hit by a truck named Gregory fumbled changed the whole complexion of the game.
