Two ofnthe ballyhooed teams got beat to start the regular season. The Nets get smoked by the champs, and the Dubs put a big 4th on the Lakers to take the game

In the As The World Turns of the NBA, Hardens extension deadline passes with no deal. Probably much adu of nothing, but worth noting

Let's get it rolling. Any Hoops fans out there? Hardcore or casual. Introduce yourself:

1.Who is your team? How do you think they'll do?
2. Who is your favorite current player to watch?
3. Who is your favorite all-time player to watch?
4. Who do you think will win it all?
5. Who do you hope will win it all?
6. What one team do you not want to win it all?

My answers:

1. Spurs. Probably going to be a lottery season. :(
2. Kawhi Leonard (even though he was a traitor and left)
3. Michael Jordan of course. For my team - Tim Duncan or Manu Ginobilli
4. Bucks. They remind me of the Spurs. A lot of homegrown talent. No prima donnas, team efforts. Always underrated because they're not big market.
5. Clippers. I continue to root for Kawhi as if he were still a Spur although he's out for a while. I liked those guys in the Playoffs, lot of young and role players with swag.
6. Lakers!! Hate to say it, but yes, the Cowboys of the NBA. Either love em or hate em.

My Spurs came out strong game 1. I know it's the Magic who may be the worst team in the NBA, but that young group has already matched the highest score margin they made last year.

They remind me of what the Cowboys are doing this year. Total youth movement. And coached well of course with Pop. Not one of those "throw them out to the fire" initiatives to flop the season.

Lakers and old teams are going to have difficulty keeping up with these boys.

1.Who is your team? How do you think they'll do?

Boston. I have them at 55ish wins. 2 round of the playoffs, with ECF as their ceiling.

2. Who is your favorite current player to watch?

Donavon Mitchell. Small, explosive scoring G's are always so much fun to watch

3. Who is your favorite all-time player to watch?

Shaq. So dominant in the low post. As a guy rooting against the Lakers, teams having no awnser for him added to the drama of the game

4. Who do you think will win it all?

Man oh man so tough to call this year. Could be the Nets. Durant/Harden are the best duo by a wide margin. However I really dont like their roster below them. I think they fall short in the end. I have Milwaukee repeating

5. Who do you hope will win it all?

Boston!

6. What one team do you not want to win it all?

Lakers. They tied us with 17 banners with the 2020 chip. Dont want them pulling ahead!

Nets lost a ton of quality role players over the past two off-seasons.
Going to be interesting to see if they are as good as everyone thinks.

Not sure I understand the Lakers roster building. Good coach, great stars but that rotation is terrible. >30MPG for Bazemore? 26 for the DH/DAJ combo? 20 MPG for Rondo?

I think there role players would have been good enough if Kyrie was playing. Without him, especially if East teams improve (and they probably will), it might not be enough

Look, I'm not saying he's an All Star and more than likely he'll be hampered by Julius Randle being ahead of him, but Obi Toppin can ball.

He is an interesting guy. With his athleticism he should be a very strong wing defender, that will get him alot of minutes even with Randle. Adding Kemba and Fournier's offense, you dont really need him to be a consistent scorer right now, his utility will help out alot. And he is has the upside to eventually be a 3rd scoring option behind Randle and Barrett

Definitely, if he can improve his 3 point shot, he has a *ton* of upside

Big test coming up tomorrow against Denver. Good gauge of where the Spurs are.

Nah, they know Luka was the prize, but their GM is doing very good work with the roster..tough team to play against.
We’ll need to see if Luka can lead his team deep into the playoffs anytime soon.
