The real benefit of starting the backup QB

I want Prescott to sit this one out because I want to see what kind of team this is. In the past, I would have immediately put a fork in them because I did not think them much of a team, more a gathering of individuals with a common purpose. And a real team doesn't just have purpose, they have a cause.

That was the magic of that only Eagles SB champ, they were a real team. Didn't mater who was out, it was all about who was in.

If the Cowboys are really going to do anything, advance further than just the first week of the playoffs, they must be a team.

I might be wrong but this one looks and feels different to me. I see them move as one a lot more than in the past but I do not know for sure yet.

That was what separated those great teams of the 90's from Cowboys teams since then. Aikman goes down and in comes Garrett or Beuerlein and everybody else steps it up.

I believe in the past the Romo teams were QB dependent, particularly on his Houdini skills. When he went down, they failed to lift their game.

This Cowboys team has a lot of confidence, and that's great, but nothing like they will have going to MIN in the prime time game of the week without their QB1, circling the wagons and winning that game. Suddenly, the team is the star.

If Prescott is a no go, this is the most anticipated game of the season so far for me. And I hope the flip with Vegas over Prescott is not lost on the players that will take that field.

Prescott does not carry this team; however, I want to know if this team can lift Cooper Rush up. They do that, we got something special here.

The other part of this is Moore is in the spotlight now. He could take over the entire light with a good showing in MIN because most OC's are good with their star QB. Few are expecting anything special out of Rush.

I just have no confidence in Rush. He's a practice squad guy that gets to be the Cowboys back up because they do not value the back up QB position.

Maybe/hopefully he'll prove me wrong, but I feel like Zeke and Pollard will need a combined 40+ carries if we want to have a chance without Dak.

I am good with the run game being over 50% of the play calling but I think Zimmer is going to have something to say about that if he has to stack the box.

Rush is going to have to make some plays because the game is going to be forced into his hands.

You make some good points. This could be an opportunity for us in many ways. Can our new and improved KM win..or ay least compete...with a JAG QB? How good IS this team around Dak?

I think if we win it is VERY good for everyone. If we lose.....we might only temporary flatten the curve depending on how bad.

What impressed me about Rush, after watching Gilbert for a couple of series this PS and he wouldn’t let the ball go, and than Rush came in and did. He ran the offense and threw to his spots. He didn’t hold onto the ball. It was night and day and won Rush the backup job IMO. If he can just do that and be accurate we will be fine. Let the playmakers make the plays. We’re not playing Tampa here folks.

Rush, if they sit Dak, will probably have the most talented offensive group in the NFL at his disposal. If he can’t move this offense, they need to cut him Monday morning. There is no reason with the skill players we have that Rush can’t complete 70% of his passes and throw the football for more then 200 yards. Early in the game the Vikings will do everything in their power to control are running game. Leaving their awful cornerbacks one on one with CeeDee and Cooper. Rush also knows the system. He is not a Street free agent. He has been in our organization for years.

This part is certainly true.

This team surrounding our QB is far superior to last year's beat-up and disoriented group.

• The Offensive Line is WAY better with our stars, Martin and Smith, back. Not remotely comparable
• The Defense is not even comparable w/ better talent and far better coordination.
• Zeke looks better this year as well

fwiw, I think this team was in for a dogfight in Minnesota even with Dak. The spread was only a couple of points and its a good matchup.

Fans should be more worried about Davin Cook, Justin Jefferson and Adam Theilen....than Cooper Rush..... This defense will be challenged all night long...

..only benefit will be Rush and the opportunity. Rest of Cowboys will have to play harder, faster, smarter..etc. Stretching the team to max, in return more problems, injuries, goof ups, penalties..etc.
