Lets give the coaches some credit, they were smart to remove the defense calls from Parsons. He was a bit slower in his reads trying to get the D organized for the few games he had the sticker on his helmet. Now he just reads and reacts

He's way faster on the stop watch. He is NOT way faster than LT with field speed.
LT had INSANE field speed.
Also, comparing their 40 times is a bit misleading. What are their 10 meter splits? It doesn't take 40 meters to get to the quarterback. Short-burst speed is a better indicator.
LT wouldn’t be faster than micah at any of those drills, however LT could bench 395lbs, I don’t think Micah is as strong but he’s definitely faster by all metrics. We’re really splitting hairs when we’re talking fractions of a second; however, LT played against way smaller offensive linemen (on average)

There is something called short speed and long speed. Quite a few guys beat Usain Bolt out of the blocks for the first 10 meters, but Bolt has long speed. He more than makes up for it on the back in, down the stretch.

At the :27 second mark of the video 6 guys are ahead of Usain Bolt, but he finishes first at the end. That is the difference between short speed and long speed.

How did Usain Bolt come into this conversation- we’re talking about LT and Micah Parsons… Not the greatest Olympic sprinter of all time.

Because we're talking about short speed and long speed.
Someone posted Micah's time vs. LT's time saying Micah is way faster.
I responded by saying that over a long distance, Micah is likely faster. But over a short distance, LT could be faster.
It doesn't take 40 meters for Micah or LT to get to a quarterback. So it's quite possible that LT is faster than him over a shorter distance.
And to prove my point, I gave an example from the fastest man in the world, who over 20 meters, is not as fast as the men racing him.
That's how we got here. :)

Ok, well I’m old enough to have watched LT play and he’s not faster than Micah in a short or long distance ‘race’. He’s stronger, but not faster.

LT had 9.5 sacks, 1 int, 1 forced fumble his rookie year and won DROY and defensive player of the year. Micah has 8 sacks (one was taken from him on Sunday & they said mahomes was running, even though he’s the QB and Micah tackled him behind the LOS), 0 int, and 2 forced fumbles + 1 recovery… and he has 7 more games to go. Based on their rookie stats - Micah’s trajectory is higher and I’m happy that I can say that based on the fact that both the giants and eagles passed on him and we moved back 2 picks and got him 12th.

If the Cowboys don't build a complement supporting defence around this guy over the next 10 years I will break many things.

They already have. This defense was missing the whole starting Dline and held a team that has gone to the SB the last 2 seasons to 19 points; in Arrowhead.

He is way faster than LT. If he can stay away from the cocaine and hookers that LT partook in, he should a better version. Like LT, Micah has a nose for the ball and amazing closing speed. Defensive Player of the Year (DPLOY), ROY, All-PRO

Micah Parsons 40 time: 4.39
Lawrence Taylor 40 time: 4.6

Dallas struck gold with Parsons.
Go Dallas!!!

umm... are you familiar with cocaine? lol. Micah on coke might double strahans record lmao

Well, I'm old enough to have watched LT play and I say he's faster than Micah in a short distance sprint.
And so what if Micah is trending to have more sacks than LT? That doesn't mean he's faster. There are a number of factors that go into sacks, not just speed.
Be that as it may, my point stands. Long speed is not necessarily an indicator that Micah is faster getting to the quarterback than LT. Now if the quarterback is 40 meters away, Micah gets there faster. But I don't know of too many defenders who have to sprint that far to get a sack. ;)

It's the overall game of Lawrence Taylor that comes into factor;
- blitzing off the edge as a pass rusher,.. that coupled with both burst and unbelievable natural power, his great art of rush moves, how LT could pursue down the line to run and slam don RBs
for losses and no-gains, the way he shred blocks and got into backfield for losses vs 3rd and goal line, and he was like this full speed, full intensed - on every single play.

-Neither RBs, FBs,TEs nor even pro bowl OTs ( ala Joe Jacoby) could handle LT, who revolutionized the art of the 3-4 OLB.

There have definitely been promising signs this season but I am going to hold off on the rest of the defence just yet.

How can you have reservations when it comes to this defense - they haven’t been healthy and they’re holding teams like the Chiefs and Chargers under 20 ppg. That’s incredible.
