Steele Underrated, Best Bang for the Buck Tackle in NFL

According to this ESPN article, Terence Steele is one of the most underrated tackles in the NFL and I couldn’t agree more.

We are lucky to have such a great undrafted player from Texas Tech, while in contrast we squandered a 2nd round pick on Conner Williams from the “great” Texas Shorthorns. Over the past five years, we have added a lot more players like Steele and very few “bum steer” players like “Chuck Conner(s)” Williams, which is a good sign!

Steele has been one of the most improved players on the roster. RT is his more natural position. But he has certainly proven to be a valuable swing T on a team that has been missing reliable OL backups for so long.

I agree and it’s great to see the hungry players like Steele keep improving. We need more players like Steele and the great, underrated Tony Pollard!

I would have preferred he stay at RT where he worked hard and succeeded at becoming a legit starter. Now, the learning curve again at LT. Asking a lot of a young player who has been presented with a significant challenge on the fly with the stakes as high as they can be.

He played well at RT, but is getting his butt kicked over at LT. He has been part of the problem.

Collins obviously is really rusty. I would play Steele at RT until he can prove he can man the position.

Agreed and I’m not a Collins fan. I believe they keep inserting him back in the lineup as a way of saying the front office did not make a mistake investigating so much money into a player with so little return. Collins has been a very part time player for several years and the sad part is we knew 2 years ago he was going to be like one of those often injured players.

When I coached, I would always take the hungry player and spend time with them and give them their opportunity. Kids that want to perform and take on any task. We knew some were overwhelmed early, but player development is an art. Leadership is not easy.
