Official Campaign for La’el Collins at LG!

There needs to be a competition at left guard. There will be plenty of time to determine that after the NO game.
 
I am all in favor of this move but I think it has to wait until the offseason. Get the 5 best linemen on the field next year. If Collins is the best LG, then let him play there. I would also give him playing time in the preseason at LT. If Tyron Smith gets hurt again it would be good to have someone like Collins prepared to step it at LT while McGovern fills in a LG. But again, give both these guys plenty of time to get comfortable in these roles. An OL needs to play together to play well together. The times to make changes is off season unless injuries dictate otherwise. I think McGovern is still getting comfortable at LG. Hopefully his comfort level peaks before the season is over.

I don’t think we should wait until next year. We need to fix the O line this year if we want to compete for a Super Bowl. I think we should try it. Collins could be a huge upgrade in run blocking, but didn’t he struggle at times as a guard when he played it a few years ago?

I’m sure the coaches are thinking about this under the circumstances. If it worked out, it could be a strong physical O line. Biadaz would have 2 big strong guys on both sides of him.

He doesn’t have to move much in space as much at guard so he should be more effective if there is any lingering issue from his hip surgery.

I have no idea...I'm not at practices or film study...the more changes we make, the more learning on the fly.....knee jerk reaction by someone that has ZERO idea as to what is going on.
 
I want this and will be willing to go through some of the growing pains:
