And when he passes on this chances to hit or initiate violent contact, that’s fear. If you’re not seeing it, I think it’s because you don’t want to. Nothing I can do about that.
His ability is limited from injury. It is what it is. You don't go from having a very good season to getting injuries and then being afraid, lol. Especially in a crucial contract season. That's guy on the couch talk.

After a stellar rookie season that resulted in a Pro Bowl nomination, Jerry figured he hit the lottery w/the selection of LVE.

Who would have thought four years later the Wolfhunter is playing in his final season w/Dallas.

With a neck injury and fear of potential paralysis? Of course you do. It’s understandable but unacceptable. But I can’t make you see what you don’t want to an am not about to try. Think whatever you’d like.

On today's Talking Cowboys the subject came up of who has been underperforming and who really needs to step up. Leighton Vander Esch was the unanimous choice. It was pointed out how he is constantly going backwards to try to make plays instead of attacking. They said this is why the Cowboys didnt pick up his 5th year option and how he has declined since his rookie year. If the Cowboys are going to make a run for the playoffs, Vander Esch needs to step up, or be replaced. I'm glad to see him being called out publicly. He is either afraid to get hurt or trying to save himself for his next team.
They shouldn’t trash him
We want someone to give him a big contract
Now if we can just hide all his game film

Is the order of claim based on last years record or this years?

I believe it’s this year at this point in the season.

How is waiver priority decided?
The waiver wire is ordered from worst to first. Following the Super Bowl until the day after the third regular season week, the priority order is the same order as the first round of that year’s NFL Draft.

Like I said there's no evidence, you're speculating.

I'm in the "bring in Cunningham" crowd. He's really good against the run and we have no one besides Parsons. LVE is a liability now just like Jaylon was. It's a shame but it is reality.
This is my thoughts. Just sub Neal in on nickel and passing downs.

I think people forget that the dude suffered a career threatening neck injury in 2020. Before that he was actually a good player for us. It is clear that the injury has sapped quite a bit of his flexibility and athleticism. Injuries, especially spinal injuries, happen and they do have long term impacts on athletes. Look at what happened to Jaylon. He never quite recovered from the drop foot and you could always tell something was not right.

Maybe but that is not the reason he is not attacking the ball carriers. I think it is he is slow to see plays developing. I have no idea why.

I think if he did not get injured, Jabril Cox would have replaced him by now. Cox is more of an attacking LB and he knows how to tackle. Plus he is a lot faster than LVE. Cox and Parsons together at LB would basically cut off anything to the outside.

Let's take a look at some stats for LVE:

Tackles: 50 combined, 33 solos
Sacks: 1
Pressures: 3
completion % against: 75%
Yards allowed (receptions): 232
Completions/Targets: 21/28
YAC: 213
Passer rating against: 99.1
Missed tackles: 6
Missed tackle %: 10.7%

So, to sum it up, he can't tackle and he can't cover. Passed time for him to sit.

... or be replaced by Whom ? ... Keanu Neal ? .. That wouldn't be an encouraging improvement.

Exactly why I’m surprised and disappointed that the team hasn’t done anything about alternatives.

LVE's injuries in the past have prevented him from performing at his best. Fans trashing his effort or any other personal crap need to get a clue. You can clearly see he's not as mobile and has slowed down.
He’s this year’s Jaylon Smith! Or maybe Heath.

Sucks to see this, and I stood in LVE's corner for awhile, but his play has fallen off sharply. Whatever the reason may be, it sucks to not see the same fantastic LB. His entire collegiate career was great. The guy used to be an animal. Boise State's win over Oregon in the Las Vegas bowl, his last year before he was drafted, he absolutely dominated. One of those games that always stands out in your memory because one player (LVE) just took over. Then, his rookie year in Dallas, looked like he was going to transcend into the NFL just fine.

Something happened. Whether that's injuries, fear of injury, whatever you think it may be, his play style has regressed for sure. As a fan of the team, I hate to see it. As a fan of the player, I hate to see it for him. As a fan of the person (he has a great reputation around the Boise area), I hate to see it.

It’s a shame. For everyone.

If I played in the game, and the Saints ran it (RB or QB) as often as they did, I would have somehow managed to run into something and get a tackle. The fact that LVE was so useless out there that he didn't even get a single solo tackle in that game shows his body or mind is no where near where it should be. A LB not getting tackles is like a slot receiver got getting any catches. It should be unheard of.

LVE has been having neck issues since 2016. I don't recall neck injuries ever getting better for football players, but maybe it's possible. All I've been thinking about reading this thread is DeVonte Holloman, and how he had good enough sense to retire. I think LVE is done. This has nothing to do with a contract...it's fear.

DQ/Edwards should at the very least rotate in Gifford and/or Bernard to see if they can do better because if they can't do better than that crap #55 is delivering the GM needs to step down.
