Haters vs Homers: A Discussion?

I was one who said that the Skins were going to beat the Boys today so you can serve up all the crow you want. BUT this team is in trouble because their so called leader is no more. Dak's play today was almost average at best, this is one $40 million-dollar QB who cannot carry this team on his shoulders, he looks horrible in the pocket when he has time to throw the ball and the Skins should of had at worse 3 picks today because of Dak's inability to read the coverages properly. Yes, the D carried this team today, if they don't want to go one and done in the playoffs then some hard decisions have to be made about the $40 million-dollar man who in playing over hyped, over paid, underachieving football................

Almost? He was worse than average. It was the kind of piss poor performance you would expect from a 4th team rookie. It was totally unacceptable.

It's funny, if you criticize LVE for playing poorly, nobody calls you an LVE hater. If you criticize Anthony Brown, nobody calls you an Anthony Brown hater.

You can pretty much criticize anyone outside of the QB and you're safe. You're still a fan. Criticize the QB for playing poorly though and here come the insults and the excuses.
That's because they have not wasted many hours and energy trying to convince people LVE or Brown is elite like they have Dak.

They're in too deep now, so they are pulling muscles reaching for ways to defend Dak at this point.

One, blindly optimistic; one, unshakably critical. I most definitely fall into the latter category.

Being unshakably critical... is not a hard thing when you are like some of us at 50+ years old. Watching this team our whole lives and living through the past 26 years.
Remembering the early 90s like it was yesterday. Then watching it fall apart for what we can now refer to as decades (plural).

Most of the members here being accused of being haters are really just middle of the pack fans - neither extreme left or right. I include myself as a middle of the pack fan. We're just 'fans', neither homers or haters.

So how are we characterized?
As reasonable

Dude. You are hater. Just own it. You’re not middle of the pack. You pick a target and hammer the hell out of it. You started with Garrett a decade ago and just switched to Dak. I really have no clue who you like on the team.

..basically seeing things in pragmatic way, without emotions involved. (Homers) Most peeps here respond at the bite of hand, without analytical reflection. (Haters)

Not with my money, they dont.. ;)..

How bout our Squad just keeps winning. The haters will fade away like a ton of punk *** cowards on this board.

The extreme left 'hater' would basically hate everything to do with the team, am I wrong? I criticize Dak because he turned out to be greedy and hasn't done squat to earn the ridiculous contract he demanded. I don't criticize the rest of the team, other than Zeke. Dak earned the criticism, the same as Garrett earned every ounce of criticism he received over the years. Why should this label me as a 'hater'?

Who do I like? Parsons - he's being to compared to arguably the best defensive player in the history of the game. He's absolutely earned everything that is being said about him.
Because all of your posts focused on the person you hate. You don’t balance your hate with any good. For example, if there was a thread about receivers, you would make some sort of a comment about how it didn’t matter because Garrett was the coach. Maybe in real life you are balanced but your persona on the message board has been hammering the hell out of who you’re hating.

Over the years been called homer and hater. This season I'm more of a homer.

Here's what drives me nuts about haters
-They can't seem to enjoy anything
-Criticism is often not in perspective (games are hard, all QBs struggle etc)
-Feels like there is a lack of support and respect for our warriors

The eternal dichotomy of sports fandom… the haters and the homers.

One, blindly optimistic; one, unshakably critical. I most definitely fall into the latter category.

In saying this, I’d like to open the floor to the optimists (I won’t name names)! I’m hoping we can have a constructive conversation and hear each other out on things such as:

Why do you dislike someone being critical of your favorite team and/or players of that team? Do you feel it’s disrespectful? Anti-fan?

While watching games, how do you react when things go wrong? If Dak makes a terrible throw or has an untimely interception or Anthony Brown gets burned, what’s your internal and external reaction? Do you have negative thoughts or do you directly move on to the next play and hope for the best?

I’d really like to hear from you guys, on both sides. There is usually a strict divide on this and there’s lots of judgment tossed around (especially during games when tensions are high). But maybe we can gain some perspective and have rational discussion while emotions are stable.

Go Cowboys!

I find it hard to see anyone as too much of a homer. Seriously... it's the whole point of sports. Why else would you follow a team that you have no personal investment in? You want them to win, you hope for the best, you watch every week thinking it will happen.

Wrong...because most fans Know ALL QBs have bad games, throws and INTs..

Dak Haters are miserable
Yes they are. For the first seven weeks, Dak was elite, arguably the best QB in the league. Anyone who couldn’t admit and enjoy that would be a hater.

However, he’s been off since then. Not without good plays, but he’s been off. Anyone who can’t admit that is a homer.

i prefer to think most of us are realists. Dak is a great talent who has had some inconsistency lately. I’ve seen him play too many great games to not think he can get back to that level.

If he can do that, without this healthy defense, we can beat anyone.

I think most posters here are more middle of the road who are sandwiched in between the extremes on both ends. I don’t get the extremism personally, but whatever.

I think some people are just literally miserable or enjoy living in Grover’s trash can and some are the eternal optimists who will never see reality. I’m ok with that, I just think being realistic is better than either extreme.

I think the most annoying thing is when people attack middle of the road posters for saying something positive or negative about a player (often Dak). They love to lump you into one extreme or the other based on a single statement.

I’m a Dak fan, and I’m glad he plays for the Cowboys. I also consider him an elite QB. But the fact of the matter is he has sucked pretty badly for a couple of weeks now. (And his receivers have let him down on occasion as well).

I think a lot of the polarization regarding players is just simple immaturity or simple mindedness. But hey, that’s just my observation. That and $7 will get you a coffee these days.

You hope. So do I. But I can admit when a player is playing bad. I don’t see the need to pretend it’s not happening. But being overly critical is annoying too. Lol.

Yes, Dak played elite the early part of the season. He hasn’t played like a complete SCAB, but he has played closer to scab than elite for several weeks now.
