How do you learn to get historically lucky?

See, I get it. I remember that there was no free agency when Archie Manning was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 1971. It was totally unfair that this great quarterback had to endure 11 seasons with the Saints where the best season was an 8-8 record.

It wasn't his fault. He made the Pro Bowl the year they went 8-8 and the previous year when they went 7-9. Those where their glory years.His record was 35-101-2 and he might have won a Super Bowl with any other team.

So Archie earned some luck for him and his family. I say "earned" although there were always rumors, you know, New Orleans and all.....

Anyway, Eli won Super Bowls because he played his best in the biggest game, I'll give him that for sure. And that defense played their guts out.

But, c'mon, there wasn't any outright luck in those games?

Pfft, the 2007 Giants. Take away Patrick Crayton dropping two TD passes and an endzone pick by Tony Romo and those turds don't get out of the divisional round. All these years later that game still burns me up inside.

Heck, go to 2011 and all we had to do was beat them towards the end of the season and we win the East and they don't even get in. Remember the game where Miles Austin lost the ball in the lights when he was wide open and not to mention, we blow a 2 score lead within a matter of minutes. We then had another chance to dispose of them at the end of the season but they dominated us.

Both of their Super Bowls came at our expense. We had a chance to end their season both times and failed.

Agreed. That whole game was a fiasco by the Cowboys. They were too dismissive of the Giants after beating them up twice in the regular season and came out too flat.

It still haunts me to this day. I see highlights of that season and get mad. 2007 and 1994 I have trouble watching any highlights from.

you must not remember those games very clearly. In 2011 the 49ers kick returner muffed not 1 but TWO different punts, and the giants recovered BOTH of them. On the 10 yard line leading directly to TD. The returner was cut the very next day.

Well...the last play of the game with no time left, there was no choice but to throw it into the endzone....sort of like a hail mary in that there was no choice.

Did not have to happen if Crayton runs his route and catches the perfectlly thrown, game-winning TD pass the play before that.

Would've been game over.

And in the SB, the Giants offense scores 17 points, they get a once in a lifetime lucky helmet catch, and they win the Super Bowl.

Thank you defense.....holding one of best offenses in NFL history to 14 points.

That’s literally what I’m saying. The giants had nothing to do with the returner muffing a punt with nobody touching him. That is absolutely luck. And it required that happening TWICE in the 4th qtr for the giants to steal a win from 49ers.

I had thought you were saying there was no luck involved in their SB runs, I was about to say whattttt lol

Luck certainly had a fair amount to do with them in 2007. We spit the bit, and in the SB you and so many others conveniently forget that the PLAY BEFORE THE HELMET CATCH there was a dropped pick by NE. By A very good CB who would have on just about any other play caught it. And that Helmet play WAS LUCK. The guy that caught that ball NEVER CAUGHT ANOTHER IN ANY REGULAR SEASON GAME IN THE NFL AFTER THAT.

Going to the wrong franchize has killed many a career. Certainly has happened here in Dallas. But to me Archie Manning is without a doubt the worst example of all time. ANY OTHER franchise and he might have accomplished something.

If you remember that game vs New England…. then you remember we went toe to toe with them and we had a 4th and 1 and Barber broke a long run down inside the 5 or 10…. Only to be called back for a bs holding call. Dallas punted and New England took the game over then

I recall several players being pissed about that game and call and vowing to get revenge on them in the SB.

Now they very well may have beat Dallas in the SB but it would’ve been extremely hard to do

Yeah that game was a lot closer than some here want to remember. I think if we had gotten to the SB it would been a shootout- depending on if TO had recovered enough in time.
