Right from the get-go, that game had an air of inevitability about it. Never had control at any stage and a three point loss flattered them, quite frankly. The narrative around this team is clearly they are giant front-runners who feast on bad teams but can't get the job done against clubs with a good or even half-decent QB or defence. And nothing I saw today changed that outlook, despite the late comeback.
The thing is, it's all up to them now. Crash and burn in the first round of the playoffs like most will now expect, or man up, figure out what is going wrong (penalties for one), fix it, ignore the critics, and just go win some ballgames in the tournament.
Do I have faith they can do all that based on what I saw today? Not really. But if you want the glass half full approach, anything can happen come playoff time and the fact is you can't point to a single NFC team that's a standout favourite. Even the good ones have significant flaws. The issue of course is that the likes of Rodgers and Brady can cover up for a multitude of sins. But the point is, there's no real juggernaut out there and like the Eli Giants showed, all you need to do is get hot at the right time.
So, no jumping off a cliff just yet for me, despite the fact a loss like that always leaves me depressed as hell.
