NFL QB Records vs Winning Teams

I'll also comment that this stat isn't really indicative of anything unless you believe teams are consistent in their level of play, players available, etc..throughout the entire season.

Playing Green Bay week one this season, for example, is not the same as playing Green Bay week 16.

Jimmy G went to a SB throwing 7 times in a half. That run game reallllllly helped that W/L record.

It doesnt matter though. W/L is a team accomplishment.
OH, I fully agree that W/L is a team record, but pundits like to stir things up. can't count the number of times people talked about Dak's record vs. winning teams. @USArmyVet (USArmyFake) still does it.

NFL QB Records vs Winning Teams
  • QB must have started 10 games in the NFL to qualify
  • The quarterback must have started the game as the officially announced starter per NFL records
  • The opponent must have finished the season with a record above .500 to qualify as a winning team
  • The data and each player’s individual page will be updated after the completion of each NFL regular season.

As you know
QBs alone don't have records vs anyone

Teams have records vs other teams

WOW tom brady is just out of this world with that stat...

Mathew satafford and Cousins...YUCK.....specially cousins who in the past few years has had everything he needs.

I was surprised to see Grapolo in the plus side.....but then again SF had a great run a couple of years ago with that defense.
Mariotta at abotu .500 was also surprising.
Yeah…..put Montana on Stafford's teams and the wins and losses would be similar.
They were usually awful teams so they lost to better teams
Not rocket science

I like this list underscores a few points.

To win a SB, a team will either have to win 3 straight (if the #1 seed with a bye), or 4 straight in the post season.

In general, unless it's an 8-9 team in the playoffs, all of those post season games will be against winning teams.

Makes you appreciate a true franchise QB like Brady and Mahomes, and given their records vs. winning teams, one can see why they were able to lead their teams to SB victories. While AR isn't at .500, there's a pretty good sample size, and obviously he's shown in the past that he can win in the post season, including a SB.

The upshot: It's tough enough to win 3 or 4 straight in the post season. When as a starting QB you're record vs. winning teams is less than .400, the odds are really stacked against you. Granted, Dallas' D is much better this year than in years past, but still. A monumental task for Dak and the Cowboys IMO advancing beyond the divisional round.

Drew Brees had a career losing record versus winning teams. He's also going to be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Dak is Dak, but QB W/L record is silly statistic.

of course and yet we both know who gets hit with blame. The QB. Not just Dak but the position in general, they get way too much blame and too much credit for loses and wins. I don't agree with it but that is how it is.

Yes it is, yet many here will blame Dak when the sun does not come up bright. I agree it is the team it is not Dak.

This metric isn't even realistic because the QB does not play by themselves. It's just another facsimile, media statistic socially engineered to have empty debates and filler talking/debate sessions for the sports media. QBR, passer rating, etc., are legit individual statistics. Now, if people were to make up the QB vs. certain types of defenses/schematic statistic, I would respect that completely even though that would still be a team statistic also. But you can at least have a semi-logical debate with that facsimile metric in my opinion.

I agree, actually glad to see people responding this way, however I come here and will see Dak can't beat teams with winning records. These threads do not say the Cowboys can't win, it is put on the back of 1.
I have watched Dak from day 1 when his YPC was low so the theme was Dak can only Dink and dunk, as those numbers improved it become something else that he would be attacked over. Personally I see improvements in Dak game over the seasons he has been here. I have never called him elite because in my view elite is rare air and reserved for those who produce at a very high level each and every year. But in overall ability yes I think Dak as the ability to help this team achieve their goals of making it to the SB

Then why are you fueling the flames and bringing it up when nobody was talking about it?

You're just inviting threads solely blaming the QB, that'll only trigger you, when we inevitable lose in the playoffs.

I just posted a thread in large part because the constant talk around here of Dak can't win vs top teams. Lastly you don't have to respond to it, that was your choice. Funny when others are throwing Dak under the bus, I don't see you asking about fueling the flames normally you are in the process of throwing him under the bus as well. So why are you fueling flames? lol We have not played a single game this post season and already waving the white flag?

We've already established how much you believe in Dak and this team going anywhere this year. You threw the white flag up weeks ago. We both know what I'm referring too.

You've already fueled one fire. I don't think you want to bring another one up.
