Thoughts on releasing Cooper after the season

Cooper has been getting hounded by the media and now the league is on his case.

I think Jerry is angling for Coop’s release with some of the public statements he made earlier in the season. It also seems the media attention is targeted, and it could be the team playing PR games.

Theories aside, if the FO is interested in bringing Wilson back and they believe Gallup can be brought back on a 1 year deal, releasing Coop does make financial sense. They could transition 10 million of the cap from offense to defense with that one move.

I really like Amari and his quiet confidence but his production has been down so paying him 21 million next season seems insane.

Why is the league on his case? And why does the team need to do some cloak and dagger type media attack on one of it's players? They don't need to go through that BS if they want to release him in the off season.

Trying to temper other teams interest possibly. Weird crap like that goes on.

That might’ve been the plan when they got Ceedee, but he hasn’t improved from his rookie year. Unfortunately, he is not a #1 receiver right now.

But you’re right, $21 million is a lot of money to pay for a 70-80 catch type of receiver.

I agree in term of talent but can you pay a WR 21 million for 70 catches a year?

i see your point but seems every time we count him out he comes up with a big game. It’s good to have his veteran presence on the team, but if these playoffs show we need free agent help and knowing that we have depth at the wr position may make keeping him cost prohibitive

If Coop's comments hurt Jerry's fee-fees then he needs to find another line of work. Teams with great players will sometimes force the ball to them for production and we should too. Make the play-makers earn their keep. Cooper can't produce when he gets two targets in a game. I love Schultz, he has outperformed everyone's expectations but he got the same number of targets Cooper did.

Yeah I agree with this completely. Dak doesn’t look for Amari enough…and I don’t see that getting any better.
