That’s only if Dallas wants to screw the cap in later years to keep Cooper. I don’t see them doing that. Only guys I see being offered that are ZM or Dak. Both of them will likely restructure as well.

That is your view, I only responded because you asked for peoples opinions. We will see how the Cowboys address Cooper and several other players this coming off season. After next season Cooper could be let go, however next season especially with Lamb still on rookie deal I don't think Cooper is going anywhere next season.

You people who hate the players on your own team are a weird lot..
I typically agree, but I also agree that we cannot pay Cooper $21 million next year. That’s a lot of money for a receiver.

We’ve got Gregory and Kearse who I believe need to be re-signed. Jerry isn’t afraid to pull the plug on a receiver. He did it with TO and Dez.

Also, some of the younger players like Diggs and Parsons are going to be VERY expensive when their time comes. I don’t know our cap situation like that, but I would assume that you have to prepare for those massive type of contracts in advance.

Hopefully he restructures and stays which I think he would.

My biggest issue with the rush to get rid of good players is twofold.. One.. good players are hard to find.. and two.. all this "what about next season" indicates a glaring lack of ability to live in the moment and enjoy the ride. This team is good.. has had a good season and could be about to go on a magical run.. I have no interest in spoiling that worrying about next year..

I completely agree. Let’s go get this Lombardi real quick!

Cut makes no sense when the guy is still a # 1 and is tradeable

Get Miami on the phone with their 77mil in cap space. Tua needs weapons.

Cooper runs the best routes, period. I want to keep him. He disappears because Dak goes into "3 yard pass mode" and doesn't throw to the wide open guy down field, IMO. A contract restructure would be great.
he disappears because he shrinks in the big moment. CD didn't disappear. Schultz makes big catches. Gallup made big catches.

and stats in the games that Cooper dsiappears show otherwise. in many of those games his YPA, YPC are higher than his average.

not defending Dak but just stating facts...... based on available stats.

Gotta keep Coop. The dude is great and tough…does not appear to be a headache either.

we may be able to let Cooper walk and resign Gallup at lower price given his injuries. that would still make us three deep at WR. plus perhaps some up and coming WRs...

its more important to sign Schultz and Gregory than keep cooper. plus he turned me off when he started to run his mouth about his stats. tells me he is more worried about his next contract and potential release than winning

So explain this to us. He physically "shrinks"? Like the Wizard of Oz witch that had water thrown on her? Like Tattoo on Fantasy Island shrink? He doesn't shrink, he's always full sized. It's most probably Dak throwing 2 yard outs to Schultz when it is 3rd and 10. <---- and then people complain Cooper should have "stepped up" on that play. Gees

no, he mentally shrinks...come on dude. grasping at straws....

as I said, stats show that in games that cooper disappears, the YPA, YPC are about the same.....CD had 1000 yards. Wilson had 600 as the 3rd and 4th WR. Schultz had 800. Dak had 4400+ yards, good for 7th in the league having missed one game...so he is finding everybody else...

its probably half a dozen of one, 6 of the other...but I know the detractors don't like to spread the blame. they like squarely in one place. reality and facts say otherwise....

I didn't want him retained at those numbers in the first place, then he made me do a 180 on it.

I'm very on the fence over this, but I also say that if this team has a championship in it this year, Amari Cooper is going to be a very big part of it.

I don't see any other way.

He s a little overpaid but if they didn't do that they would have lost him.

Very very tough call. Usually much more clear cut.

Cooper has been getting hounded by the media and now the league is on his case.

I think Jerry is angling for Coop’s release with some of the public statements he made earlier in the season. It also seems the media attention is targeted, and it could be the team playing PR games.

Theories aside, if the FO is interested in bringing Wilson back and they believe Gallup can be brought back on a 1 year deal, releasing Coop does make financial sense. They could transition 10 million of the cap from offense to defense with that one move.

I really like Amari and his quiet confidence but his production has been down so paying him 21 million next season seems insane.

I like Coop but put his money on the OLine. That needs to upgraded and we need another good LB too. Thin there.

I like the thought of Cooper's salary being cut without him being fired first. But since I highly doubt him agreeing to anything like that, I guess you gotta keep him.

Dak definitely needs that Alfa dog X wide out but Lamb could be that guy already possibly.

This is another of those (along with about 3 other contracts) that the most serious discussions need to be had for maintaining a competitive team while still not totally compromising future cap spending.

Risk-Reward assessment and all that...

I don't know about cut but his contract will absolutely be re-negotiated. Cannot justify $22M on a WR just to lose Gregory, Gallup, Wilson, Schulz, Williams, Kearse, etc. Team can survive without Cooper and most of those guys. Team CANNOT survive with Cooper and just like, one of those guys.

Yea lets release our best receiver. Let me guess you want to give big money to the guy who got hurt last year and again this year? Does cooper dissapear sometimes, sure but thats partially on the qb too, cooper cant throw himself the ball.

Dak-stand are hilarious. All throughout the Dak “slump”, when Dak was getting murdered in the press, they were blaming ALL the WRs for sloppy route running and dropping passes. Now suddenly, every WR is performing and it’s only Amari that ‘shrinks’.

When did Amari shrink against the bums that Dak finally showed up against? 5 receptions for 79 yards against the Eagles, though he missed an easy TD when he ran that ridiculous routes in the end zone and caught the ball out of bounds. Or 7 receptions for 85 yards in the Commanders blow out. Lamb had 2 receptions for 45 yards and 6 receptions for 66 yards respectively. That looks to me like he outperformed Lamb and it was Lamb ‘disappearing’ per the standards set by Dak-stans.

Outside the Tampa game, when they didn’t even bother sending a safety Amari’s way, the best performance by Amari was when Cooper Rush was throwing him the ball. 8 receptions for close to 120 yards AND CeeDee Lamb for 6 receptions and 112 yards AND Cedrick Wilson on 3 receptions for 84 yards.

It looks like to me it’s the QB that is too scared to throw against real opponents and when the game is on the line. I mean Lamb only notched 1000 yards because half the time he’s running 30 yards after Dak throws him a simply screen pass.
