Or the Chargers, Vikings, Saints, and Buccaneers. He had great games against these teams, unfortunately he wasn't able to play defense to stop Brady from a game winning drive.

I noticed you conveniently left off the Eagles too. Why, because their playoff status messed up your agenda? LOL!!!
Lol...He lost to the Bucs and Rush won against the vikings, Dak didn't even play. The Saints were playing their backup RUNNING Tim Tebo clone with a hurt arm and still almost beat Dak.

The Eagles didn't even play their starters, does everyone in the world know that except you???, Hurts sat on the bench to protect him for the playoffs!

Did you put those softballs out there on purpose???...LOL

so a complete rebuild.... given that Rush is not the answer. and 4 out of 5 first round QBs fail. its a gamble. we have pick 24 in the draft. dumping Dak means dumping most other players to make cap work. meaning we end up with a bunch of players on the team that wouldn't play for Alamaba or Georgia. suffering perhaps through a 1-16 season....hoping to get the first over all pick and maybe a good franchise QB coming out.
I recall a great coach the rebuilt and went through a 1-15 season on the road to setting us up for a 3 superbowl dynasty team.

but that team was 3-13 the year before and 7-9 the year before that....that team was falling apart already and Johnson just accelerated it. there is a difference in blowing up a 3-13 team and a 12-5 team.

Perfectly stated. Easier for people to blame Dak than what the real issue is.

There are multiple issues.

Dak is an average and inconsistent QB who is never going to carry the team. But Jerry and the front office are the reason he is here and now has a $40 million deal and why we are stuck with him. And the OL is weak, Zeke is done, etc, etc.

Hey I'm man enough to admit my mistake on the Vikings game, its early out here, im not even up good yet lol.
It was stated that he only PLAYS WELL against bad teams. He played well against the Bucs at full strength in their stadium, he played well and beat the Eagles TWICE, and it doesn't matter who was in the second game because they are paid professionals who he destroyed. Dak didn't struggle against backups, he destroyed them. Good qbs destroy backups and thats what he did.

The Saints beat the Buccaneers and the Packers. Dak and the Cowboys beat the Saints. If the Saints were so bad, why weren't Brady and Rodgers able to beat them???

I'll wait....

Did you see the chiefs game tonight? Mahomes was sacked at least 6 times, under constant pressure yet still threw for 400 and 4tds and won 42-21,why didn't he need better protection to play well? That ol excuse for Dak is played out.
Not making excuses for DAK I just saying in order for him to play well he needs the OL fixed. DAK don’t have Mahommes football IQ! DAK get happy feet where mahommes will take that hit and deliver a dime! That’s all I’m saying.

What was our record the last 2 years in 2019 and 2020?

You or anyone that liked your post can't be taken seriously when you constantly throw facts out, that aren't facts... DAK IS NOT THE HIGHEST PAID QB. Stop just saying stuff to fit your narrative.

At the moment he signed his contract, he was.

The Saints won those games because they were playing the starting QB and had their star RB, both of whom didn't play against us. They still almost beat us and Dak did not have a good game against them.

Here’s a crazy idea that is probably not salary cap feasible - Dak for Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers hinted recently in an interview that him and the FO still had to iron out their differences after the season.

Packers kid they drafted to replace him looks horrible.

Pack get their QB replacement instead of draft gambling, we get Aaron Rodgers, much like Tom Brady, in his last years. The Texas heat rejuvenates his bones and he doesn’t have to deal with the C crap in a conservative state like Texas.

You wanted a plan B, right? Just throwing $#@! out there.

Totally good with this but it would require a head coaching change as well.

6-10...because of injuries..... same loaded team that went 12-5... the year before 9-7.

again, no team ever having gone 12-5 blew up the team. never before.
Well guess what, it's being blown up anyhow. We have no cap space because of Dak's contract. We have FAs like Gallup, Gregory, Pollard, Williams, C. Wilson and a few others we're probably going to lose and even with them we couldn't get past the wildcard round of the playoffs.

We made hay in the NFC east which is seeing the Eagles with 3-1st round picks and the Giants with 2. Washington and the rest have a much lower draft position then we have so don't expect miracles in the draft.

How are you expecting better results next year when we couldn't do it this year considering we have no plan to recoup our loss's we will suffer next year?

The mediocrity continues until you do blow it up and rebuild.

So according to your logic, when Dak lead the Cowboys to wins against good teams, there's some built in excuse to support your agenda.... got it!!!

Check this out.... Dak destroyed Washington twice... Why couldn't Brady beat them???

He threw for 37 TD's and 10 picks.....ain't nothing average about that.

well, Dak's cap hit this year was 17M...... next year is 34M, but I am sure it will get redone. even if you don't like it and brought to about 25M range....that's not prohibitive of anything.

tell me which FAs we want to sign that are worth the money? you list is doable, except Gallup
We have Cooper, CD, ......and you want to resign Gallup and CD? why? you want to be 4 deep at WR? that's nuts....its not fantasy football.
Gregory....I think we will resign him. not worried. but he is 30....do you want to pay a 30 year old DE that underwhelmed the last half of the season and disappeared in playoff game?
Pollard....I would love to keep him. its not because of Dak we can't keep him. its because of Zeke and his absurd 50 yards per game at 16M per season...don't forget

the players we really need to resign and I am pretty sure we will are Schultz, Gregory, Wilson.....if you want Gallup, then get rid of Cooper....too much money invested in WR

and I have been opposed to going FA route, given those who are worth their money, are paid by their teams. the rest that hit the market are injured, old, head cases. very very very few good ones that can play for another couple of years hit the FA market.

we will be a middling team next year too....

again, no team 12-5 has ever blown up the team.....never been done.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys cannot get rid of Dak for at least the first three years of the contract, and there is a no-trade clause, so at least until 2023 we will have to get used to the idea that Dak is the QB of the cowboys And aside from the possibilities being affected more due to the restructuring of the contract, the only way for the Cowboys to get rid of Dak is before the 2024 season, a definitely lousy contract, which will greatly limit the team financially. so I see zero hope of reaching an SB for at least 5-6 years, there is definitely no plan B

I'd ask Brady the same, but he's still busy playing football. You should talk to Dak about this, he has plenty of free time.

There isn't much for a plan B now that they gave him the contract. I'm no GM and I very well may have blundered it, but before he signed the contract I would have done this.

1.) In the 2020 draft I wanted Herbert. I wasn't sold on Dak. I would have tried to move up to get him. It would have cost a lot, but at the time it's what I wanted. Now getting him is easier said then done.
2.) After the 2019 season I would have put the transition tag on Dak and let him play for $17 million. This does give a team a chance to offer Dak a contract, but the Cowboys can look at that offer and match it. If it's too high you don't match it, but I can almost guarantee his price would have been less and if not you just avoided overpaying Dak. If I was able to acquire Herbert in the draft I would have let him walk. If not able to acquire Herbert I would have gone for Brady. Would he have played for the Cowboys? Don't know, but the Bucs got him for $25 million a year. If I couldn't work that out I would have gone after Marcus Mariota (that the Raiders got for cheap) or Winston who the saints got for cheap. These would have been stop gaps, but in all honesty neither of these options are a huge step down from Dak. Neither of them hamstring your future and can get for $5 million or less.
3.) Let's go through the scenario that Dak got the tag in 2020 and then got hurt. At that point I would have again offered the transition tag again. I think that would have been a $25 million a year. Again that provides you a year stopgap to make a decision and after what just happened you have your answer. If a team comes in and pays him more then you want to pay, I would have signed Fitzpatrick. Again he's not a huge downgrade and doesn't hamstring you for the future. If that were to happen, or Mariota or Winston were to happen you then have a very good team with a serviceable QB. And I think all could have achieved what Dak did in that playoff game. From there if you didn't get Herbert, who I truly did want you draft a QB in the 2022 draft. I won't pretend to be a draft guru and tell you who, but in the last 7 draft many of the 1st round QB's have been a hit and it's not some terrifying thing you should shy away from. It's a much better decision then hamstringing yourself to the contract they gave Dak.
